Just ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, when the moon is at its brightest, TUDOR unveils its first ever watch with a moon phase complication… and some magic from Jay Chou.
The Moon occupies a special place in Eastern lore: in the Chinese tradition of the Mid-Autumn Festival, it symbolizes togetherness and the unity of family. It was the most fitting occasion to harness the creative energy from TUDOR’s own family, particularly the multi-talented Jay Chou, to create the first ever moon phase watch in the collection.
The subtle sophistication of the 1926 line was the perfect place to start. This line is named after the year when “The Tudor” was first registered as a brand on behalf of Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf. It captures and stays true to TUDOR’s philosophy, representing both beauty and value. Working with TUDOR’s designers, Jay added his magic to the watch, and the result is as magnificent as a resplendent full moon lighting up the night sky. Framed by a perfectly polished bevel, the moon phase indicator appears at 6 o’clock on three brand new dials in 39mm stainless steel cases for the 1926: Blue, Black and Jay’s own, champagne-colour. The moon phase indicator for each dial is distinct, and Jay’s vision for the champagne-colour dial model has come to life in a truly fantastical way, with the phantom moonlight gold disc representing the moon hidden behind an inky black cutout that slowly disappears as the moon waxes and wanes.
In Roman mythology, Luna the goddess personifies the divine beauty and magical mystery of the moon. Most years have 12 full moons that appear once during a lunar cycle lasting roughly 29.5 days, but our calendar doesn’t necessarily sync up perfectly, so some years might see 13 full moons. This is what makes the moon phase complication so mesmerizing – the watch measures our 24-hour days right down to the very second. Meanwhile, it also measures a completely different cycle – the lunar cycle. Not only can you tell the time, but you can also tell when it’s time to… watch out for werewolves.

The 1926 Dial Points to Tudor’s Legacy
The dials of the 1926 model are a fine example of TUDOR’s thorough attention to detail. Domed for a vintage touch, the delicate design points to TUDOR’s origins. These dials have applique even-numbered Arabic numerals between faceted arrow-shaped hour markers. The wealth of detail on the dials of the 1926 line creates a striking and intricate play of light that perfectly complements the sword-shaped hands with their matching colours, and the moon phase indicator is a novel touch that adds a bit of poetry to the watch.

Inspired by two Historic References
Renowned for the triple calendar moon-phase movements that it developed in the 1940s, and that were adopted by several other leading Maisons, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced a new version of the complication in 2020 as part of the relaunched Master Control collection. 50 years after creating its first triple calendar movements, Jaeger-LeCoultre launched the Master Control Collection in 1992, naming it after its pioneering ‘1000 Hours Control’ certification. The certification protocol, which set a new standard at the time by testing the entire cased-up watch, has continually evolved in response to technological advances. A distinctive new visual approach
The classical triple calendar complication – also known as a complete calendar – shows the day, date, month, and moon-phases, with the days and months in the upper half of the dial, the moon-phase in the lower part and the dates marked around the periphery, indicated by a hand.

The two-tone effect of the new grained dial creates a visually compelling and highly legible version of this classical layout, with indications divided into distinct sections defined by alternating shades of light and dark grey. In the lighter-toned centre, the day and month windows are positioned at the top, with black decal indications on white discs. In the lower part of the central area, the moon phase display is contained within the small seconds sub-dial. Set against a blue sky dotted with stars, the polished moon subtly reflects the dark grey hue of the ring displaying the hours. Outside the hour circle, the minutes chapter ring is light grey, while the outermost circle displays the date against a dark grey background. The contrast between the light and dark greys is amplified by the way the grained texture of the dial absorbs and reflects the light differently, according to the shade of grey. Small flashes of red on the date indications around the dial and on the date hand add a discreet touch of contrast. The new dial retains all the other design codes of the Master Control collection: the elongated triangular applied indexes, complemented by Arabic numerals at 12, 3, and 9; the faceted Dauphine hands, polished on one side and brushed on the other; and the finely balanced, classical layout of the indications. Completing the signature aesthetic, the 40 mm Master Control case features refined finishes – polished on the bezel and the top of the lugs, and finely brushed along the sides, exuding a relaxed and understated elegance.
The in-house mechanical movement
Equipped with the Manufacture’s calendar movement Calibre 866, the Master Control Calendar displays hours, minutes, seconds, complete calendar and moon-phase indications. The high-performance selfwinding movement offers a power reserve of 70 hours. Calibre 866 introduces an original and fascinating new variation to the traditional format of dates marked around the outer periphery and indicated by a hand. In homage to the beauty of the moon-phase, the date hand is fitted with a rapid-gliding feature, signalled by red arrows on the date ring. Once a month, between the 15th and the 16th, the red-tipped date hand leaps swiftly across the 90 degrees that separate the two dates, ensuring that the moon-phase display is never obscured. The X-Nihilo Calibre: Trilobe’s first manufacture movement
Conceived, designed, developed, prototyped, machined, decorated, and assembled entirely in-house, the X-Nihilo is Trilobe’s first Manufacture movement.

A new steel signature
Case and bracelet are designed as a sophisticated, cohesive whole. The bracelet is shaped to perfectly hug the wrist, with each satin-brushed and beveled link gradually narrowing for a refined and fluid taper. The interlinks, polished to a mirror finish, echo the Trilobe’s pointed shape, creating a signature motif and animating the surface with a subtle play of light.
Structurally, the bracelet alternates links and interlinks in a simple yet refined layout and adjusts smoothly thanks to its flexible construction. Interlinks differ on their visible and internal faces: decorative on the outside, functional on the inside, ensuring overall robustness.
It features a double folding clasp engraved with the Trilobe logo. With no visible push buttons, it operates via a spring blade for clean aesthetics and intuitive handling.
The case is composed of seven individually-finished elements, revealing a sculptural silhouette. It features three chamfered tiers with asymmetrical lateral fins and a beveled mid-case.
The bezel presents a unique design: its profile is fluted, with mirror-polished ridges and matte-finished grooves, enhancing the interplay of contrast and light. Its geometry subtly incorporates the Trilobe motif.
This new architecture directly echoes the design of the crown, which was specially conceived for this collection.
The Trente-Deux collection remains true to Trilobe’s iconic off-center time display, while introducing a completely reimagined dial. A circular chapter ring, both satin-brushed and mirror-polished, echoes the bracelet’s finish and anchors the composition. Its extreme thinness, combined with its large diameter, requires absolute precision in machining to ensure perfect flatness without deformation.
Every detail enhances the movement’s contrasts: fine or raw grainings on the bridges and plates, black polishing on screws and bushing for a sutble finish. Screws and jewels are highlighted with concave, diamond- polished surroundings.
On the surface, the bridges echo the bracelet’s satin finish, while the rhodium- plated gears display a circular brushing aligned with their motion. The oscillating weight combines a sunburst pattern with grain texturing, highlighting both its structure and lightness.
A true hallmark of the brand, these textures interact with the 5N gold treatment, whose warmth and patina will evolve over time.
The openworked oscillating weight made of tungsten reveals the balance wheel, supported by a bridge inspired by traditionnal watchmaking. The tailor-made balance wheel features ftheir chronometric regulation screws for precise adjustment, ensuring long-term stability and accuracy.
Resulting from a singular design approach, the oscillating weight is equipped with a system of safety pins that protect the movement from major shocks, preserving the integrity of both bridges and internal components.
Through the sapphire caseback, the movement appears to float in space: the mirror-polished inner case reflects the movement to create striking depth.

The Klepcys DICE, the world’s first double independent chronograph, was first unveiled in August 2021. A much appreciated technical innovation that allows two-time intervals to be measured independently or in synchrony. It is the result of meticulous research and development conducted by esteemed master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon, the creative mind behind all Cyrus Genève watches since the brand’s foundation in 2010.
A useful tool for independently or simultaneously recording two elapsed time intervals in sports competitions, the new KLECYS DICE GLACIAL BLUE is also an excellent companion for everyday life, marking the rhythm of our daily activities.

AN UNMISTAKABLE AND HALLMARK STYLE.
The case
The signature feature of the KLEPCYS timepieces by CYRUS Genève is its iconic cushion-shaped case, which comprises no fewer than 26 parts. The elongated lugs on the case body, the squared bezel with slightly rounded sides and the symmetrical twin crowns define its recognisable aesthetics.
The KLEPCYS DICE GLACIAL BLUE comes in a polished/brushed grade 5 titanium case with a transparent rear. It is 42 mm in diameter, 16.5 mm thick and water resistant up to 10 ATM. Titanium is a highly corrosion-resistant, hypoallergenic, and extremely lightweight material, ensuring a comfortable and elegant fit on the wrist.
The two independent chronographs can be started, stopped, and reset by pressing the pushers on the two crowns, which are situated at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock respectively. The two chronographs can be identified by the two black and white anodised aluminium rings on the crowns. The crown at 3 o’clock is also used for time-setting and winding the movement.
A unique display
The openworked architecture of the display is a well-thought-out approach that allows the chronograph mechanism and its column wheels to be seen in action from the dial side, standing out against microblasted plates in the watch’s signature colour: a light blue obtained through ALD treatment.
The elapsed times recorded by the two chronographs are easy to read thanks to the two-colour scheme that CYRUS Genève has adopted in white and glossy black. Both colours are featured on the chronograph counter at 3 o’clock, the double-scale flange around the dial, the column wheels and the respective crowns. The chrono minute and second hands are mirrored. The first chronograph, which is activated by the crown at 3 o’clock, is highlighted in white and resets at 12 o’clock. The second chronograph, distinguished by the glossy black hand, is set using the pusher on the 9 o’clock crown and resets to 6 o’clock.
The small seconds dial at 9 o’clock, with its original logo-shaped hand, mirrors the chronograph counter. Both the chronograph counter and the small seconds sub-dial are made of anti-reflective sapphire crystal, as is the hour track, which displays luminescent Arabic numerals and has been carefully shaped to accommodate the counters.
The latest addition to the Klepcys DICE collection exudes a casual-chic vibe, accentuated by a Cordura fabric strap that matches the colour of the dial and is secured to the wrist with a personalised titanium folding clasp.
A state-of-the-art, pioneering calibre conceived and crafted in our Manufacture
Our manufacturing facility in Le Locle, Switzerland, under the direction of the talented master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon, boasts a wealth of expertise in the horological art. This enables the Maison to continue exploring and pushing back the boundaries of watchmaking mechanics. This is a significant step towards the forefront of innovation in developing calibres that set new standards in terms of accuracy and performance.
CYRUS Genève continues to surprise the most demanding collectors with the new KLEPCYS DICE GLACIAL BLUE, which is powered by the prestigious CYR718 self-winding calibre.
Comprising 443 components, it beats at 28,800 vibrations/hour and has a single barrel providing 55-hour power reserve at full charge. It is equipped with two independent chronograph movements and two display axes: one corresponds to the chronograph seconds and the second to the 30-minute counter of the double chronograph. The chronographs are activated by two column wheels, which in turn activate the different levers and couplings that move the seconds and 30-minute chronograph display.
Activating the chronograph levers generates considerable shock and energy dispersion, particularly during the return-to-zero phase when the hammer on the heart cam is engaged. Thanks to a special insulation system, which ensures precision measurements throughout the event, the two chronographs function independently without exerting any influence on one another.
Special attention was also required for the motion work mechanism that carries the hour and minute hands. To optimise space and accommodate the double independent chronograph complication, Mojon came up with a concentric mechanism for the motion work. This mechanism is not only more compact, but also coaxial with the hands’ axes.
This innovative mechanism comprises two main plates with a micro-beaded finish and pale blue colour obtained with ALD treatment, on which the 218 components of the additional module corresponding to the two independent chronographs were assembled.
It should be noted that since the chronograph mechanism is visible on the dial side, the movement has been reversed. Its design provides an intriguing view of the two column wheels that constitute the “heart” of this complication.

Her name is Catrina. She is one of the very few female incarnations of death in the Mexican Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos). Jaquet Droz has adopted this unusual, exuberant and disruptive character in line with its own approach to master craftsmanship. The result is a unique piece in red gold that exhibits a mastery of micro-painting, paillonné and grand feu enamel, for the benefit of a single collector.
A web of mythology surrounds it. It is not known precisely what year she was born. 1912? 1913? This calavera, the emblematic figure of the Mexican Day of the Dead, seems to have sprung from the imagination of an illustrator. And while the first female calaveras appeared in 1889, it was not until 1930 that this one was given her official name – Catrina. The great lady has spanned the decades with consummate ease. Contrary to custom, here we see a richly coloured figure surrounded by a wreath of flowers. In keeping with the naturalist spirit that has inspired it for nearly three centuries, Jaquet Droz has appropriated this dazzling floral myth of Mexican culture.
The figure of Catrina occupies the right two thirds of the dial. It’s all about the details: the two whites divided between the face and the smile, with two different levels of contrast, the minute variations in pink and violet, the shades of the gold dots with the two hands in red gold, and the green, sometimes bright and clear, sometimes dark and threatening.
This contrast is underscored by the diversity of craftsmanship on display. Catrina’s head is in micro-paint, but the floral base on the left of the dial is in grand feu enamel. The foliage is hand-engraved on a 1.1 mm thick gold dial. Each leaf has a different depth, and is filled with enamel powder and fired several times.
In this case, the gold dots are not hand-painted, but rather paillons. The technique, which Jaquet Droz has been using for nearly three centuries, consists of capturing tiny hand-chiselled motifs in gold leaf under a thin layer of invisible varnish. In the same spirit, the lightness of the freehand micro-painting contrasts with the watchmaking rigour of the tourbillon visible at 12 o’clock. Within its ocular orbit, it features a high-precision mechanism with an 8-day power reserve. The choice of a flying tourbillon, with no upper bridge, offers a bird’s-eye view of the watch’s regulating organ. This ballet, orchestrated to the micron, offers a precise measurement of time in defiance of Catrina – herself unconcerned with the whole concept – and with a rigour to which she seems oblivious.
On the back, this great lady of Dia de los Muertos asserts her femininity with a final flourish that is only visible to collectors. Its mother-of-pearl oscillating weight is decorated with two gold star appliques edged with multicoloured foliage. Created entirely by hand by Jaquet Droz artists, the Catrina Skull in a 39 mm red gold is a model for a unique collector.

Octo Finissimo Lee Ufan × Bvlgari – Minimalism With a Soul
One of the fair’s most talked-about watches was Bvlgari’s collaboration with Lee Ufan, the Korean-Japanese artist known for his contemplative works that balance stillness and space.
At first glance, the watch’s mirrored dial looks almost simple. But like Ufan’s art, it asks you to slow down. The reflection turns every glance into a dialogue—between presence and absence, light and shadow, permanence and fragility.
The titanium case keeps things featherlight, while the ultra-thin micro-rotor movement inside reminds us that this is still a serious piece of horology. Alongside these novelties, Bvlgari also took time to reflect on the Octo Finissimo’s journey. At Geneva Watch Days 2025, the Maison presented its first full retrospective of the collection—an exhibition charting eleven years of relentless innovation and ten world records.
The Octo Finissimo is as much about architecture as it is about mechanics. Its octagonal case was inspired by the Basilica of Maxentius in Rome, translating Roman geometry into a contemporary design language. Over the past decade, this architecture has become the canvas for groundbreaking engineering and creative collaborations alike.

The Legacy Machine 101 (LM101) series was first launched in 2014. With its 40mm case diameter, the LM101 is among the smallest and thinnest of all the Legacy Machines, featuring a nonetheless very three-dimensional movement, regulated by a monumental 14mm “flying” balance wheel that floats above the movement.
As its “101” name implies, the timepiece focuses on the essentials of a mechanical wristwatch: the balance wheel, which regulates precision; the power reserve, showing how much energy remains in the mainspring and when it needs to be wound; and, of course, the display of time itself.
The LM101 movement was the first calibre entirely conceived by MB&F’s in-house engineering team. Award-winning, independent watchmaker Kari Voutilainen played a pivotal role in the design and finishing specifications, ensuring that its architecture and 19th century style hand-finishing techniques met the highest standards of traditional haute horlogerie and respected the codes of historical watchmaking.
Over the last decade, the reference has seen many stunning iterations in white, rose and yellow gold, platinum, palladium and stainless steel – along with a plethora of striking dial colours and finishes, each as desirable as the next.
The LM101 is now one of MB&F’s most coveted creations, and over the last few years, collectors and enthusiasts have frequently expressed their desire for an EVO edition. To mark MB&F’s 20th anniversary in 2025, the brand has finally decided to answer this request with the debut of the LM101 EVO – a fitting tribute to two decades of horological artistry and a thank you to the model’s most avid fans.
What is the EVO effect?
The EVO series was introduced in 2020 with the LM Perpetual EVO – an evolution of the award-winning LM Perpetual. This was followed by the LM Split Escapement EVO and the LM Sequential EVO in 2022.
The EVO treatment includes a set of design and engineering enhancements that are applied to certain Legacy Machine models, transforming them into timepieces that are better equipped for everyday wear and an active lifestyle. Key features of the EVO models include a water resistance of 80 metres, a screw-down crown, an integrated rubber strap, and MB&F’s patented FlexRing shock absorber that is fitted between the case and the movement to protect the watch during active use. To further enhance resistance and wearability, the models employ advanced materials such as zirconium and titanium.
In terms of design, the EVO models stand out thanks to their ergonomic case design and integrated strap; but also by forgoing a traditional bezel, offering an unobstructed view of the Super-LumiNova enhanced displays through their domed sapphire crystals. On the movement side, EVO models feature darkened treatments, amplifying their sporty, contemporary aesthetic.
The 20th Anniversary LM101 EVO Editions
In celebration of MB&F’s 20th anniversary in 2025, two LM101 EVO editions are introduced in titanium, available with either a salmon or peacock green dial plate. These dial plate colours are produced using CVD, short for chemical vapor deposition – a technique chosen for its technical advantages as the dial plate forms an integral part of the movement. The peacock green version is particularly captivating as shifting hues of green, blue, and purple light refract across its surface. The salmon version is just as noteworthy as it is a relatively rare colour for MB&F.
Those with a keen eye will also notice a host of new details in these EVO editions. The two black subdials, hovering just about the dial plate, are now framed by finely circled borders. At the top right, the highly legible hours and minutes are displayed by newly designed white gold hands. The power reserve indicator, positioned in the lower subdial, reveals a significant improvement: the power reserve of the LM101 EVO calibre has been increased from the previous 45 hours to 60 hours, in keeping with the sportier theme.
The elegant twin arches suspending the flying balance wheel continue to catch the eye. Milled from a single block of metal, they require many hours of hand finishing to achieve their mirror-like lustre. In this EVO version, they feature a more fluid and refined base, further distinguishing this model from the classic LM101 version. The escapement wheel has also undergone a refined redesign, inspired by the recurring battle-axe motif found in MB&F timepieces.
A Straumann double hairspring and a reliable slipping mainspring barrel are integral features of the manually-wound LM101 EVO movement. New for this LM101 edition is the innovative proprietary FlexRing which comes with the EVO package. Each timepiece is finished with a box sapphire crystal on the back, revealing the beauty of the darkened hand-finished movement beneath. Undulating Geneva waves, hand polished bevels, gold chatons, countersunk blued screws and sensually curved plates and bridges all pay homage to the style found in high quality historic pocket watches and testify to the respect accorded to historical legitimacy.
Completing the look, wearers can choose between a sleek white or grey rubber strap. Although not formally a limited edition, the collection can only be crafted in a limited quantity of a few dozen pieces per year, based on capacity.

A pioneer of chronometry
Louis Moinet dedicated his life and talent to a very ambitious goal: the precise, scientific measurement of time. His invention of the first-ever chronograph ushered in the era of high frequency, achieving a phenomenal rate of 30 Hz, which was essential for measuring the tierce, or 60th of a second. As president of the Chronometric Society in Paris, he brought together the era’s greatest scientists and watchmakers in their shared pursuit of precision. He later crowned his achievements by presenting a chronometer with several important complications at the 1851 Universal Exhibition in London.
Thus, guided by the quest of exact measurement, Louis Moinet laid the foundations of modern chronometry and became its most illustrious pioneer.
The 1806 chronomètre d’Observatoire
Since its founding in 1772, the Geneva Astronomical Observatory has been the historic home of Swiss chronometric certification. It perpetuates the tradition of precision contests that marked the nineteenth century.
The new Louis Moinet timepiece, the 1806, has been certified as an observatory chronometer and is thus a part of that tradition. To obtain this designation, each 1806 movement undergoes fifteen days of trials, during which it is tested in different positions and subjected to various temperature variations. The results of these tests provide proof of the chronometer’s precision and reliability.
Historic roots, contemporary look
Inspired by history’s very first chronograph, the 1806 case draws attention with its understated power. Its Directoire-style semi-bassine silhouette, highlighted by the double gadroon, combines the sobriety of the historical lines with the contemporary lightness of polished and satin-finished grade 5 titanium. The crown, engraved with a fleur-de-lys, pays homage to the French town of Bourges, Louis Moinet’s birthplace.
The rhodium-plated dial seems alive thanks to a subtle interplay of satin and bead-blasted finishes. The classic, highly readable numerals convey the rigour of a genuine scientific instrument. The small seconds dial at nine o’clock in the same bead-blasted decor is offset by a polished circular frame, accentuating the depth and clarity of the display.
The minute chapter is arranged on a peripheral flange with a circular satin finish. It is punctuated by twelve blackened nickel cabochons and four blued steel screws, a crucial detail that further evokes the historical roots of this timepiece.
The 1806 dial showcases how traditional watchmaking fits in with a modern look. Classic elements pay homage to the original: the name Louis Moinet appears in its historic typography, while Chronomètre d’Observatoire is displayed in the same font used for the hour numerals.
The slender, openworked hands in blued steel maintain the visual clarity that defined Louis Moinet’s original timepieces, while their tips, enhanced with modern SLN luminous material, guarantee immediate legibility in any light. The fine seconds hand stands out with its circular openworked counterweight—a detail that bridges historical craftsmanship with contemporary precision. At the dial’s centre, the ruby-set barrel, flanked by two polished screws, adds a technical accent that is both rigorous and refined.
The sapphire crystal caseback reveals an automatic movement certified as an “Observatory chronometer.” Its circular-grained plate serves as a backdrop to the openworked, gilded rotor designed in a purposefully clean, modern, style. As it spins, it reveals the movement’s individual number, guaranteeing authentication and official certification. The four engraved symbols on the caseback represent the company’s core values: exclusivity, creativity, artistry, and design.
As for the bracelet, it was given the name “BRIDGE project.” It is the first grade 5 titanium bracelet by Louis Moinet and takes its name from the distinctive wide links that recall a stylised bridge. It is resolutely contemporary, thanks to a unique design, and was conceived as a seamless extension of the case. Each link seems to flow fluidly into the next, enabling the bracelet to hug the wrist naturally without disrupting the watch’s balance. The alternating satin-finished and polished surfaces create a sculptural ensemble that is both graceful and ergonomic.
1806: The prestigious origin
Louis Moinet creations carry extraordinary stories within them, both through the technical advances they embody and the distinguished personalities for whom they were intended. Some were conceived as exceptional commissions, such as the clock created for Napoleon in 1806—a landmark work whose date now inspires the name of this new timepiece.

A New Milestone in Watchmaking History
The story of modern mechanical watchmaking began around half a millennium ago. It took a giant leap forward in 1675, when the Dutch polymath Christian Huygens invented the modern oscillator by pairing a balance wheel and a hairspring, a hair-like spiral installed at the heart of a movement’s regulating organ. This tiny spring enabled watchmakers to control the oscillation of a watch movement’s balance wheel, delivering significant improvements not only in timekeeping precision, but also in portability. The hairspring would change the course of horological history and shape the 350 years of watchmaking that followed up until today. It had its flaws, though. Initially made of steel, a ferrous material, it was subject to the effects of shocks, temperature changes and magnetism. Over the past 100 years and as the technological age began, material improvements would see steel replaced by special, more resistant alloys. Then, a quarter of a century ago, the watch industry embraced silicon, harnessing its low-maintenance and high-resistance properties to greatly improve the everyday performance of mechanical watches.
So, what next? The TAG Heuer LAB could have iterated on silicon hairspring technology. But the true avant- garde spirit demands a fresh approach. And so instead, the TAG Heuer LAB chose to break the mold and to push the boundaries of innovation. Today, in the 350th anniversary year of Huygens’ invention and armed with its revolutionary new hairspring technology, TAG Heuer is ready to begin a new chapter in mechanical watchmaking. The age of TH-Carbonspring has begun.
Ten Years of Relentless Effort
The process behind the TH-Carbonspring oscillator began a decade ago and it has taken nine years of dedication and unrelenting self-belief and determination to transform the intellectual concept behind it into a fully functioning reality. Along the way, there have been false dawns and existential setbacks, sobering moments that might have stopped others in their tracks.
But TAG Heuer does not quit. Rather than treating them as a dead end, and summoning extraordinary mental strength, the TAG Heuer LAB turned these setbacks into steps forward, leveraging the learnings of each near-thing to inch closer to the ultimate solution. With every experience, TAG Heuer’s engineers were able to tweak and improve the blueprint. A turning point came in 2019, when a solution came to market. It fell short of TAG Heuer’s precision standards, but it also helped pinpoint the changes required. To perfect the system, another six demanding years of development would be needed. Through this period, the company’s engineers identified the additional manufacturing steps that would progress and refine the hairspring’s environmental resistance and long-term stability. After thousands of hours of testing, the TAG Heuer LAB confirmed the technology was ready for industrialization and could be put into production watches with, critically, the company’s assurances of a five-year warranty firmly intact. After almost a decade, TAG Heuer now proudly presents a hairspring that not only realizes the mission’s goals, but that also works reliably and consistently for thousands and thousands of hours, delivering exceptional mechanical timekeeping precision and performance in line with TAG Heuer’s avant-garde, winning spirit.
“Given the scale and complexity of the goal we set ourselves at the TAG Heuer LAB, the innovation process has involved countless steps and at least as many failures as successes,” said Emmanuel Dupas, TAG Heuer technical director. “It starts with intuition, then a hypothesis, then development, and then testing. Each result carries weight. Sometimes a result gives you confidence in your hypothesis. Other times, it goes against it and your hypothesis breaks down. There are no short cuts. The Carbon Spiral’s Three Performance Upgrades
The TH-Carbonspring is an exclusive technical development, patented by TAG Heuer, and it delivers three material benefits that will improve a watch’s daily performance. First, is that the hairspring is “amagnetic”, or resistant to magnetism, a significant property in an age when the everyday devices that surround us emit strong magnetic fields. When magnetized, non-static mechanical watch components become compromised and can no longer perform at their peak, with a negative knock-on impact on precision. In extreme cases, magnetized watches will stop working altogether. The second is that the TH-Carbonspring is resistant to shocks. Even simple actions such as closing a door or clapping can create shocks that will disrupt the smooth running and accuracy of a mechanical watch. TAG Heuer’s development counters these effects. And the third is that carbon has lightweight properties that reduce inertia in a hairspring, thereby increasing chronometric performance.
The TAG Heuer LAB’s Finest Hour
As unique as the performance traits is the story of the TH-Carbonspring’s development and production. It was developed entirely in-house by the TAG Heuer LAB, the Swiss watchmaker’s recently renamed innovation center once known as the TAG Heuer Institute, which was previously responsible for a catalogue of ground-breaking material and mechanical innovations. As well as being developed in-house, the TH-Carbonspring is produced entirely in-house, leveraging the company’s multidisciplinary technical expertise and network of vertically integrated, industrialized Swiss manufacturing centers. TAG Heuer has filed four patent applications related to this technology. One of these has already been granted and the other three are pending at the time of publication. For the first watches to carry the new TH-Carbonspring technology, TAG Heuer turned to its two most emblematic designs: the TAG Heuer Monaco and the TAG Heuer Carrera. Both watches also feature bespoke carbon fiber detailing, most notably in their forged carbon dials decorated with a spiral that, like a hairspring, is snail-shaped rather than a perfect circle.

As per TAG Heuer’s design mantra, a watch must perform its primary function efficiently. For legibility, the TAG Heuer Monaco Flyback Chronograph TH-Carbonspring has black-gold-plated hour and minute hands with white Super-LumiNova®, and high-contrast white lacquered hands. A black-gold small second hand, black forged carbon indexes, crown and chronograph pushers add to the watch’s high- tech stealth look. Finishing the picture are black-gold chapter rings around the two subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock, and a black rubber strap with a fabric-like pattern. The timepiece is powered by TAG Heuer’s in-house TH20- 60 Calibre, a chronometer-certified automatic flyback chronograph with an 80-hour power reserve. As avant-garde is the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Extreme Sport TH-Carbonspring. Its core characteristics mirror those of its TAG Heuer Monaco counterpart, with the addition of a forged carbon bezel with a tachymeter scale, and a switch to a sleek black rubber strap. On February 20 of that year, Glenn relied on this precision instrument as he circled Earth three times, bringing a Swiss timepiece into space for the first time. This achievement affirmed TAG Heuer’s technical ingenuity and its readiness to perform beyond Earth’s limits. At the core of the TAG Heuer Carrera Astronomer is the newly released Calibre 7, a mechanical movement with a 50-hour power reserve. This movement powers a moonphase complication that redefines how lunar cycles are read. At 6 o’clock, a rotating disc presents seven illustrated moon stages with crisp accuracy. Flanked by two slender arrows calibrated for daily motion, the display clearly shows the moon’s current phase as well as its position in the 29.5-day cycle. This approach breaks from the abstract displays commonly associated with traditional moonphase watches. TAG Heuer has chosen scientific precision as the design principle. The result is both functional and avant-garde, bringing clarity and fidelity to astronomical reality. Each day at 1:00 AM, the lunar disc advances in perfect rhythm with real-world moon movement. The second edition, produced in a limited run of 500 individually numbered pieces, introduces modernity through its crisp visual contrasts and refined details. Each version of this new release features a silver dial, and a white gold bezel set with 60 baguette-cut sapphires or tsavorites. Each colour is limited to just 10 pieces worldwide.
Each bezel is adorned with gemstones of the highest purity, invisibly set to create a seamless surface of brilliance. Due to the Maestro’s asymmetrical case shape, each stone is custom-cut, and the reduced metal surface posed a significant challenge, solved by in-house engineering innovations.

The name Masterlink clearly reflects the Maison’s intent to maintain a strong connection with the founder’s creative vision – reinforcing this aim by incorporating links into the original design.
The identity of the Masterlink is defined by a harmonious blend of design, innovation, and craftsmanship. It begins with its asymmetric case shape (38mm), a refined evolution of the iconic Maestro silhouette, which retains the signature ‘smile’ at 6 o’clock, the Maison’s signature.
Equally distinctive is the integrated bracelet, the first of its kind for the Maison. Designed with hidden screws and a concealed butterfly clasp, it achieves a seamless look while ensuring exceptional ergonomic comfort on the wrist.
“Our aim was to let simplicity conceal complexity,” explains Federico Ziviani. “Showcasing a watch’s complexity isn’t too challenging. ”.
At 6 o’clock, the central links initially follow the curve of the ‘smile’, then gradually straighten out, while at 12 o’clock they extend the case and bezel’s straight topline. “We have created, as only few others have, a truly asymmetrical bracelet in haute horlogerie,” adds Federico Ziviani.
Completing the timepiece is a dedication to finishing excellence. The central link is vertically brushed to echo the direction of the dial’s Côtes de Genève motif, drawing inspiration from the elegance of Italian pinstriped tailoring and reinforcing the watch’s refined aesthetic. The dial itself features a linear relief motif, which is not stamped. Instead, it is constructed from two separate levels, layered to create true depth and sophistication.
Refined Engineering and Finishing
Despite its slim 7.9 mm profile, the watch features a screw-down crown with a Clou de Paris motif. The dial uses a two-level construction for added depth, while the case back reveals a finely finished micro- rotor movement with a total thickness of just 2.7 mm. Water-resistant to 100 meters and Ergonteq-certified for optimal ergonomics, the Masterlink remains versatile enough for everyday wear, even with gemstones.

To bring this original collaboration to life, ZENITH and USM delved into the bold spirit of the 1960s — a transformative era that redefined form and function, and a pivotal moment in the histories of both brands. Asking themselves, “What might these two icons of Swiss craftsmanship have created together back then?”, they set out to design something entirely new, a timepiece that never was, yet one that seamlessly channels the aesthetic and cultural codes of the era.
The 1969 ZENITH DEFY served as the natural starting point for this creative fusion. With its sharply angular case and faceted contours, the DEFY’s bold, octagonal silhouette and fourteen-sided bezel echo the signature design language of USM — celebrating clarity, structure, and strength. The result is a striking interplay of geometry and surface, where each finish reflects the shared values of both houses.
Though the original DEFY was offered in multiple iterations and laid the foundation for today’s DEFY collection, it was never produced as a chronograph.
The new DEFY Chronograph USM is, in essence, a piece of “imagined heritage” — an answer to the question: What if the 1969 DEFY had been equipped with the groundbreaking El Primero, the world’s first high-frequency automatic chronograph? And further still, what if it had drawn subtle inspiration from another design icon of the same era, the USM Haller system?
Patented in 1965, the USM Haller modular furniture system has become a cult symbol of enduring modernity. The DEFY Chronograph USM is housed in a compact 37.3 mm stainless steel case that stays true to the bold geometry of the original DEFY. Its octagonal shape is accentuated by a 14-sided bezel, while pump-style chronograph pushers enhance its vintage-inspired silhouette. The watch is paired with the iconic “ladder” bracelet, originally designed in 1969 by the renowned Gay Frères company exclusively for ZENITH. Water resistance is rated at 10 ATM, ensuring robustness to match its design integrity.
The dial is marked by applied square hour markers with horizontal grooves, reinforcing the watch’s architectural character. Every TUDOR watch is assembled and fully tested to TUDOR’s superior standards at the new TUDOR Manufacture located in Le Locle, Switzerland. With its combination of brushed and polished finishes, the 40mm case creates a dynamic play of light, shadow, and texture. Revealing Favre Leuba’s First Skeleton Movement
The custom-designed skeleton movement—finished in gold or anthracite—juxtaposes different textures, each contributing a distinct visual element. Snailing, a technique where a rotating tool creates a spiral pattern, adds a refined circular texture that enhances the movement’s depth and elegance. This intricate finish, along with satin and sandblasted surfaces, creates a dramatic visual display, drawing the eye to explore the openworked movement.
The multi-layered movement architecture includes a semi-exposed mainspring barrel at 12 o’clock and a balance wheel at 6 o’clock. The balance wheel bridge, with its horizontal brushing, is an exclusive Favre Leuba design that underscores the brand’s commitment to exceptional craftsmanship.
Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement provides a 41-hour power reserve. The skeletonized rotor features a satin finish and an engraved Favre Leuba wordmark. In the anthracite version, the rotor is coated with a matching black chrome (DLC) finish, creating a seamless visual connection with the case.

Jaeger-LeCoultre continues its pursuit of precision in mechanics and aesthetics with three new interpretations of the Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985. Two are cased in Platinum (950/1000) with an eye-catching blue dial, one with a polished bezel and one with a diamond-set bezel, and the third is cased in 18k pink gold (750/1000) with a brown dial. Developed in 2013, Calibre 985 unites a perpetual calendar and moon phase display with the fascination of a flying tourbillon equipped with a cylindrical hairspring.
Inspired by the quest for precision
The pursuit of precision at Jaeger-LeCoultre is driven by the values of its founder, Antoine LeCoultre. His obsession with accuracy, not only in the design and structure of his calibres, but also in the finishing, assembly and decoration of each case and dial, has inspired every succeeding generation to continue the journey. Calibre 985, incorporating a tourbillon with a cylindrical hairspring, masterfully demonstrates the Manufacture’s expertise in this quest for precision.
The regulating organ – comprising the balance wheel, hairspring and escapement – is one of the most important parts of a movement as it governs the accuracy of timekeeping. Having focused considerable effort for many years on researching the effect of incorporating tourbillons into the regulating organ and on the impact of differently shaped hairsprings, Jaeger-LeCoultre has a deep understanding of how this affects the accuracy of the watch. The expansion and contraction of the hairspring controls the back-and-forth oscillations of the balance wheel, and it is crucial that these oscillations are concentric in order to limit the impact of both gravity and magnetism.
The Manufacture’s engineers discovered that the shape and attachment (terminal curves) of a hairspring determine the way it contracts and expands. They determined that different shapes oscillate differently, according to the specific construction of the regulating organ in a particular calibre. This has prompted the development of hairsprings in S-shape, spherical, semi-spherical and cylindrical forms. Being one of the very few Manufactures able to shape its own hairsprings in-house gives La Grande Maison a distinct advantage in this respect.
The helical or cylindrical form of the hairspring was invented in 1776 then largely forgotten until the 21st century. The ends of the spring coil inwards and it offers enhanced isochronic performance, beating concentrically in every position, regardless of the amplitude (the back-and-forth swing of the balance wheel) or remaining power reserve. This is the hairspring used in Calibre 985.
Calibre 985 – The precision of complications and decoration
A complex and sophisticated movement entirely developed and produced by Jaeger-LeCoultre, Calibre 985 is composed of 431 parts, of which the flying tourbillon alone comprises 83 components. Crafted in titanium, it weighs just 0.386 grams. The enhanced isochronism of the cylindrical hairspring made it the right choice for this movement, which delivers all the functions of a perpetual calendar, as well as a moon phase that will require no adjustment for 122 years.
On the reverse side of the watch, the sapphire crystal case back reveals the exceptional precision of the Haute Horlogerie finishes on the movement, including blued screws, sunrayed Côtes de Genève, snailing and hand-bevelling. The winding rotor in 22k rose gold (916/1000) is decorated with sunray engraving and a reproduction of the gold medal awarded to Antoine LeCoultre at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London for his development of precisely calibrated stamping, cutting machines and mechanical lathes which allowed the components’ interchangeability.
Exceptional cases in platinum and in pink gold with a signature dial
Sophisticated in design and complex in structure, the Master Grande Tradition case consists of more than 80 components. With screwed in lugs and a mix of polished, brushed and micro-blasted surfaces, the case is reserved for only the Maison’s most complex calibres.
The warm glow of the pink gold case is complemented by the soft brown of the corresponding dial, while the cool tones of the platinum case create a striking contrast with the rich blue dial, enhanced by the high polish of the bezel. On the second platinum-cased model, the colour contrast is amplified by diamonds. The bezel is set with 72 baguette-cut diamonds, making a total of approximately 3.4 carats – the subject of 15 hours of gem-setting work in the Manufacture’s own Métiers Rares™ atelier.
A hand-bevelled bridge spans across the dial, with the area surrounding the tourbillon set below the rest of the dial for both aesthetic effect and technical reasons. Tiny details and subtle colour variations add visual interest: the minute track and periphery of each sub-dial are micro-blasted, the inside of the sub-dials is opaline, appearing to change colour in different lights, and the three-dimensional letters and numerals of the calendar indications are laser-engraved in relief, to stand out against their background. Given the emphasis on timekeeping precision, the seconds are indicated on an arc-shaped 20-second scale below the tourbillon aperture – with the three blue hands mounted on the tourbillon cage each measuring a 20-second interval as the tourbillon completes a rotation around its axis every 60 seconds.
The outstanding Master Grande Tradition watch calibres, each comprising multiple complications and several hundred components, epitomise La Grande Maison’s spirit of innovation and devotion to precision. This complexity is complemented by remarkable precision in the decoration and finishing of both movement components and habillage. Inspired by in-house Savoir-faire in Grand Feu Enamel and Hand -Guillochage
The anthracite grey dial provides a dramatic backdrop for the tourbillon and the date display, and reflected light dances across the sunray pattern of the guillochage with every movement of the wrist. The hand- guilloché pattern is a work of immense precision and skill: each of the 180 ‘sun rays’ required six passages of the hand-operated rose engine lathe, making 1,080 lines altogether. Guided only by the eye and hand, the master guillocheur must ensure that every line is absolutely straight, evenly spaced and perfectly aligned, radiating out from the centre to the edges of the dial. In addition, the date sub-dial is hand-guilloché in a circular pattern (known in French as azurage) to create a subtle texture that contrasts with the sunray.
When the guilloché work has been completed, the dial is handed over to the master enameller, who begins the delicate task of applying the enamel. It requires five layers to achieve the desired intensity and depth of colour, with each layer followed by firing at 800ºC and carefully managed cooling.
Harnessing a legacy of Tourbillon Expertise
Since Jaeger-LeCoultre developed its first tourbillon movement in 1946, the tourbillon has been a key element in La Grande Maison’s pursuit of timekeeping precision. Invented to counteract the impact of gravity on the oscillations of the escapement, the delicate mechanism consists of a cage, within which the balance wheel and hairspring rotate. Over the course of almost 80 years, the Maison has invented many new tourbillon configurations and different hairspring shapes, the latter made possible because it is one of the few Manufactures to possess the specialised skill of shaping hairsprings in-house.
The movement powering the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel is the latest generation of Calibre 978, which won an international chronometry prize in 2009, the year of its launch. The calibre has become Jaeger-LeCoultre’s mainstay tourbillon movement and was comprehensively updated in 2019 to harness new technology. Comprising 77 components, including a titanium cage, the tourbillon weighs less than half a gram. It is equipped with a flat, two-level hairspring designed with a specific curve at the attachment points to help ensure that the oscillations are as regular as possible, thus delivering a high level of timekeeping accuracy. The pink gold bridge is enhanced by High Watchmaking finishes, including bevelling, straight graining and drawn flanks, all meticulously executed by hand. With its finely handcrafted anthracite grey dial and mechanically sophisticated calibre, the new Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel epitomises La Grande Maison’s philosophy of uniting technical virtuosity with enduring beauty and timeless aesthetics.
