ZENITH CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar Limited Edition For Hodinkee

Hodinkee, the leading destination for all things watches and horology, has once again teamed up with luxury watch manufacturer ZENITH for their third collaboration. Together, they are announcing the launch of the ZENITH CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar Limited Edition For Hodinkee. A celebration of ZENITH’s legacy of innovation, the timepiece reinterprets the modern chronograph icon that is the ZENITH El Primero – and takes it to the next level.

For the first collaboration on the new CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar, Hodinkee saw a chance to create something truly special, knowing ZENITH is a brand unlike any other. One that is able to effortlessly marry the past, present, and future. Equipped with a new high-frequency caliber with a triple calendar and moon phase, the ZENITH CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar Limited Edition For Hodinkee is a tribute to a rare prototype El Primero from 1970. Nine years after production was halted, Zenith relaunched the ZENITH 3019 PHF this year, with the 1/10th of a second indication. Subtle in color but bold in material and movement, Hodinkee’s design honors the original prototype while complementing the incredible accuracy of the 1/10th chronograph of the El Primero. The resulting timepiece is a stunning juxtaposition between past and present, slow and fast, and old and new.

This watch demonstrates the strength and versatility of the initial El Primero design while providing a silhouette that feels like a modern, well-made, and purpose-driven chronograph. It features a stainless steel case measuring 38mm wide and 14mm thick and a case and dial enclosed with a raised sapphire crystal, calling to mind the acrylic crystals found on vintage El Primeros like the A386. Unique to the blue serial production disc and gold-plated indexes of current collection pieces, this timepiece features a specially produced black moonphase disc and rhodium-plated indexes. Additionally, the typically gold-plated chronograph hand has been swapped out for white with this model, further emphasizing the modern twist on this classic design. The watch is delivered on a stainless steel bracelet, and a leather strap with a pin and buckle is included to complete the look and feel of a modern high-performance sports watch.

Housed inside the case and entirely visible through the caseback, the most significant change lives inside. Released in early 2024, ZENITH’s new El Primero Caliber 3610 added a robust calendar movement to the existing El Primero Caliber 3600 by sharing the same high-beat rate and column- wheel design of the original El Primero movement, but with modern technical enhancements that ensure smooth running and reliability. For instance, the chronograph seconds hand traverses the dial once every ten seconds or six times per minute, a defining feature of Zenith’s iconic 1/10th of a second chronograph.

A dynamic black dial and ZENITH’s signature 4:30 date window serve as a balanced backdrop for the rest of the watch. When testing materials, Hodinkee and ZENITH looked to the past and incorporated slices of the Gibeon Meteorite—estimated to have formed 4.5 billion years ago within the molten core of an asteroid between Mars and Jupiter. This material features unique patterns as a result of meteorite cooling, meaning no two slices of meteorite, no two subdials, and no two ZENITH CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar Limited Edition For Hodinkee watches are alike.

”It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with the team at Hodinkee, a valued and long-standing partner of the brand. This watch embodies the epitome of sophistication, effortless , and timeless elegance in chronograph design. The subtle blend of vintage inspiration with the striking meteorite aesthetic makes it an undeniable winner.” – Romain Marietta, ZENITH Chief Products Officer.

“There are so few brands in this world with which we seek to work – let alone to work and collaborate on three separate occasions over the course of eight years. Zenith is one of the very few – and as one of our first ever collaborators in the space, one t hat means a great deal to us. The El Primero is an ideal canvas on which to create and iterate. It speaks to and honors the the brand, caliber, and indeed, entire Swiss industry’s history, while pushing the boundaries of what is possible from a materials perspective. In particular, with our 2024 collaboration, we’re doing something never done before, and used Zenith’s historic triple calendar caliber, and combining it with authentic and organic meteorite. Because Meteorite is naturally occurring, no two watches will be alike, and that makes this limited edition even more special. I could not be more excited about this launch. “ Ben Clymer, Founder of
Hodinkee

The ZENITH CHRONOMASTER Original Limited Edition for Hodinkee is available as a 200-piece limited edition for $13,500. The first 75 pieces will be available for purchase in the HODINKEE Shop, and 125 pieces for sale as of October 9th on ZENITH’s e-commerce platform.

AN ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION FOR THE 40 YEARS OF THE ICONIC MOOREA

RENAISSANCE OF AN ICONIC MODEL

For four decades, Moorea has marked time with distinction. Within the contemporary watchmaking realm, few models can boast such a brilliant journey through the ages. To celebrate its anniversary, this timeless timepiece reinvents itself through a newly redesigned and revisited collection, equipped for the first time with the Calibre Initial®, the third movement designed and developed by the Manufacture.

True to its fundamentals, the new Moorea pays homage to this heritage while adopting a design of a great modernity. Created in 1984 by Émile Péquignet, Moorea, with its unique style, has significantly contributed to the success of Maison PEQUIGNET. Its elegant shape, the fluidness and purity of its slender curves contribute to the charm of this collection.

Available in both feminine and masculine versions, Moorea has been regularly reinterpreted over the years. It has consistently preserved its core elements, more particularly its renowned bracelet, with links connected by elegant metal grains.

THE LEGENDARY MOOREA LINK

With its innovative design, the Moorea bracelet is the signature of this collection. As a technical marvel, it consists of links connected by small oblong interlinks. This elegantly crafted bracelet is also remarkably comfortable.

Originally offered in three rows and later in one or two rows, it gave its name to the now famous «Maille Moorea,» which has become a strong symbol of Maison PEQUIGNET over the years. Today, this bracelet stands as a reference in the world of horology.

By breaking conventions and daring the unexpected union of gold and steel, Moorea is the perfect embodiment of the free and inspired style of PEQUIGNET.

BACK TO THE ROOTS

For its 40th anniversary, Moorea makes its comeback in the spotlight of the horological stage.

PEQUIGNET’s designers have worked- on the design to offer this iconic model a new and even more appealing line.

Completely redesigned, this new collection unveils seven references, including four models measuring 25 mm with a two-row bracelet and three models of 38.5 mm with a three-row bracelet. PEQUIGNET also wished to return to the origins of Moorea by faithfully preserving the strong codes that have made this collection successful.

The iconic bracelet and the subtle combination of gold and steel are, of course, preserved. These two style elements still stand out on this new version. Indeed, Moorea 2024 evolves with subtlety.

WIND OF CHANGE IN CONTINUITY

Perfection lies in the details, and for this new Moorea, PEQUIGNET pays them a very special attention.

The 2024 collection aims for a more graphic design. The angles feature more pronounced edges, and the link’s proportion are very slightly readjusted. It is now presented with a delicately chamfered definition. The distribution of brushed and polished surfaces is finely revisited to better play with light.

One of the most significant changes is linked to the bezel, becoming almost horizontal, and refined because of the Roman numeral indices’ removal. The lugs regain their iconic «ears,» and the date display returns to 6 o’clock, its elegant original position.

Ultimately, the new Moorea gains greater strength and sobriety.

AN IN-HOUSE CALIBRE HEARTBEAT

Regarding the movement, Moorea 2024 plays the variety card. This year, for the first time, the range welcomes a unique horological version equipped with the in-house Calibre Initial®. It is the third movement designed by the Manufacture and developed and assembled in Morteau.

The Calibre Initial® perfectly reflects PEQUIGNET’s innovation capacity. This prestigious bidirectional winding movement offers a «weekend-proof» power reserve of 65 hours. It features a date window with semi-instantaneous display driven by a patented complication integrated into the Calibre Initial®. It meets the durability requirement set by the Maison, with all its components sourced within 80 km of the Manufacture. Moreover, 72% of them are French.

This manufactured version of Moorea is absolutely unprecedented, perfectly illustrating the artist-engineer expertise of PEQUIGNET. Moorea is also available in a quartz version for its smaller models (diameter: 25mm).

For its 40th anniversary, Moorea returns rejuvenated and modernized, with the same grace and character. This iconic model from PEQUIGNET rediscovers the purity of its lines and reconnects with its fundamentals. This collection opens a new chapter in the Moorea saga.

Moorea 2024 is undeniably a Moorea! It continues to embody the timeless elegance dear to PEQUIGNET.

THE ART AND SCIENCE OF TIME

Pequignet embodies a French vision of time: the time we dare to dedicate to ourselves, the time we draw away from. Pequignet is designed for independent spirits, those who seek to assert their freedom, emancipate themselves from conventions, and stand out without showing off. Pequignet aims to offer an uninhibited Haute Horlogerie experience in its own distinctive way.

HUBLOT AND SORAI UNITED FOR CHANGE

Hublot introduces the Spirit of Big Bang SORAI, a 30-piece limited-edition created in support of SORAI, the conservation organisation founded by former international cricketer, conservationist and Hublot Ambassador Kevin Pietersen.

Hublot continues its partnership with SORAI – Save Our Rhinos Africa and India – the rhino conservation organisation founded by former international cricketer and Hublot ambassador Kevin Pietersen. Hublot is United for Change, believing that the impact of the collective is essential in bringing the change that will conserve and protect our planet for future generations. The rhino is still threatened with extinction, impacting the stability of the 5 keystone species that play a crucial role in the safekeeping of our ecosystem and environment. Hublot introduces the Spirit of Big Bang SORAI, a 30-piece limited-edition of the iconic tonneau-shaped hand-wound tourbillon created in support of SORAI’s mission. This is the fourth Hublot x SORAI watch and as before, part of the proceeds from sales of the watch will be donated to the organisation as it continues the fight to protect the rhino.

Even though the tireless activities of SORAI and its partners have significantly increased awareness of the threat to the rhino and made a powerful contribution to the preservation of the species, the crisis continues. According to the WWF, half a million rhinos roamed Africa and Asia at the beginning of the 20th century, a figure that has now dropped to just 27,000 as the dual problems of poaching and habitat loss continue to pose an existential threat to rhino and other keystone wildlife species. The black, Javan, and Sumatran rhino are all listed as critically endangered.

But by being United for Change, there is good news. Conservation programmes such as those supported by SORAI have helped increase the population of Indian rhinos from around 200 at the turn of the 20th century to around 4,000 today, while black rhinos have doubled in number over the past two decades. Hublot is proud to support SORAI as it empowers conservation agencies to continue this work and bring positive change.

Tackling the rhino crisis together

SORAI is a socially conscious enterprise founded in 2018 by former England cricket captain and conservationist Kevin Pietersen, who was born in South Africa and grew up with a passion for the natural world. SORAI’s mission is to unite complementary communities, businesses and actors to ensure that Africa and India’s keystone species survive and thrive in the world – forever.

Among the many organisations and projects funded by SORAI is Care for Wild in South Africa, a grassroots organisation that rescues and cares for abandoned, injured or orphaned endangered species, particularly rhino. Rhino are poached for the value of their horn, which in some countries is still believed to have medicinal or spiritual value, despite being made of keratin, a protein that also forms the basis of our hair and nails. Poaching is a highly complex problem fuelled by poverty and the international criminal network, and much of SORAI’s vision is to support pioneering anti-poaching education and enforcement programmes. These are problems for which there is no quick fix, but SORAI is in it for the long haul, enabled
by the support of businesses such as Hublot.

First of all, I want to thank Hublot for continuing to support SORAI and our mission to conserve and protect the world’s rhino population. It really does make a difference. The challenge wildlife conservation teams face on the ground is sadly still hugely challenging and often incredibly dangerous. It’s a battle out there as conservationists and park rangers tackle poachers and combat the illegal trade of rhino horn. We have to go on working together to educate people about how important the rhino is to the environment and to make sure they know that rhino horn has no medicinal value – no more than fingernails. We’re doing everything we can to support those brave men and women at the front line, which wouldn’t be possible without Hublot’s backing. Donations from sales of these beautiful watches make a tangible difference to combating poaching, developing and implementing new technologies and raising awareness of the threat to this magnificent animal. I want everyone who buys this new watch to understand the power of their contribution and to know they did something to empower positive change. Thank you so much.”  KEVIN PIETERSEN FOUNDER OF SORAI, HUBLOT AMBASSADOR FORMER INTERNATIONAL CRICKETER

Every minute counts: time for change

The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang SORAI is the fourth watch created in support of SORAI, and the first Spirit of Big Bang. Its 42mm case is cast in the same micro-blasted and polished “warm grey” ceramic created by Hublot for SORAI to capture the distinctive colour of a rhino’s skin and first seen in the Big Bang Unico SORAI 2023. The watch is set on a grey fabric strap and supplied with a second strap in black rubber with a striking grey and beige camouflage pattern. Powering the watch is the HUB6020 Manufacture calibre, a hand-wound, skeletonised tourbillon with a five-day power reserve. It provides the watch with an asymmetrical display that sits poised between two sapphire crystals and that delicately balances a time display at 3 o’clock and a power reserve indicator between 8 and 9 o’clock. The Spirit of Big Bang SORAI will be limited to 30 pieces.

Hublot’s ambition is to leverage its global reach and this new watch to ignite critical conversations around the rhino and environmental issues, and to inspire a new generation of conservationists. By being United for Change and harnessing the impact of the collective, Hublot believes that together we can forge a path to a better future.

Laureato Japan ‘Aiiro’ Editions

Girard-Perregaux marks the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations existing between Switzerland and Japan with the release of two versions of the Laureato. These models, celebrating the Maison’s longstanding ties with Japan, are limited to just 100 pieces each. The colour of each dial is indigo blue, inspired by and paying homage to the Japanese colour. Perpetuating the iconic Laureato design language, these Japan editions wonderfully showcase the extraordinary talents of the Manufacture’s craftspeople.

The story begins in 1860

In 1860, the same year Constant Girard began sketching his ideas for what would later become the legendary Tourbillon with Three Bridges, his brother-in-law, François Perregaux set up an office in Yokohama. It was a bold venture that saw Girard-Perregaux become the first Swiss watch company to establish a presence in Japan. A few years after his arrival, a ‘Friendship and Trade Treaty’ was signed between Japan and Switzerland, leading to clocks and watches being exported to the Asian state.

When Girard-Perregaux watches first emerged on the Japanese market, the country did not use the same timekeeping system as Europe, hence Swiss watches were viewed as curiosities. However, in 1873, as Japan commenced building a railway network, the nation adopted a Western time measurement system. This provided a great opportunity for François and led to a significant rise in Swiss watch exports.

Over the years, François travelled extensively throughout Asia; however, he would always return to Japan, his adopted home. A pioneer and maverick, François Perregaux was instrumental in forging close ties between the Maison and Japan, a relationship that continues to endure today, almost 165 years since the son of La Chaux-de-Fonds arrived in Yokohama. The Manufacture has maintained a strong retail presence in the country and has crafted several Japan-only limited editions. For example, in 2019, Girard-Perregaux released the vintage 1945 Japan edition, a watch featuring similar blue tones on a white dial which proved popular and prompted favourable feedback from admirers of the Manufacture.

While each nation has its own unique characteristics, both Japan and Switzerland share an appreciation for craftsmanship, often inspired by nature and, in particular, their local surroundings. It is this shared understanding between Girard-Perregaux, a brand known for paying close attention to the smallest of details, and Japan’s many discerning watch enthusiasts that continues to perpetuate the Maison’s esteemed reputation in this market.

Paying tribute to a special relationship

In recognition of its special relationship, the Swiss Manufacture has chosen to craft two limited edition models, exclusively for Nippon. Both models, a Laureato 42 mm with a blue Grand Feu enamel dial and a Laureato Chronograph 42 mm Titanium featuring a Clous de Paris pattern, are dressed in a distinctive shade of indigo blue and limited to 100 pieces each.

Among the many traditional colours, the Maison chose indigo blue, termed ‘Aiiro’, for its historical significance in Japan. Production of Aiiro dye, extracted from the Japanese indigo plant (Periscaria tinctoria), is believed to have been prevalent during the 16th century and is often associated with samurai warriors who considered the hue as a ‘winning colour’. When English chemist, Robert Atkinson (1850-1929) arrived in Japan in 1874, he was amazed to see the widespread use of the bewitching hue and described the colour as ‘Japan blue’, a shade that is celebrated with these latest GP models.

Laureato 42 mm with Grand Feu enamel dial

The first limited edition, the Laureato 42 mm with Grand Feu enamel dial, is housed in a stainless case and is a modern take on the legendary Laureato, originally released in 1975. Upholding the familiar design language, much loved by watch aficionados, this latest model imparts meaning with three hands and incorporates a date display adjacent 3 o’clock. An exquisite play with shapes comprising an octagonal bezel, sat atop a circular plinth, positioned above a tonneau-shaped case, the housing toys with light, juxtaposing brilliance and shade. This game of contrasts is repeated with polished and satin finished surfaces placed side by side. At the heart of the watch, a self-winding Manufacture movement, the Calibre GP1800, further demonstrates the Maison’s in-house expertise. It is embellished with straight and circular Côtes de Genève motif, circular graining, bevelling, engravings, sunray finish, mirror-polishing and snailing; all visible via the sapphire caseback.

The pièce de resistance is the Grand Feu enamel dial, skilfully crafted in the company’s in-house facility. The base of the dial is formed of a silver disc which has then been endowed with a guilloché sunray motif. Thereafter, the magic begins when a mixture of silica, minium, potash and soda are ground into a powder and combined with metal oxides to create the desired shade of indigo blue. This powder is dusted onto the brass disc and then fired at temperatures of approximately 800°C. The artisan must judge when the dial should be removed from the oven, allowing it to cool, while taking care not to spoil its appearance. This process is repeated 5-10 times to achieve the desired lustrous appearance. A product of patience and skill, such dials can incorporate tiny fissures, air bubbles or other imperfections, leading to them being rejected and requiring the dial making process to begin anew. Unquestionably time consuming to create, a Grand Feu enamel dial won’t fade, promising an enduring allure that will never diminish.

Laureato Chronograph 42 mm Titanium

The case of this limited edition model is formed of lightweight Grade 5 titanium, a material that is strong, stiff, corrosion-resistant, non-magnetic and hypoallergenic. Some sections of the high-tech alloy are polished to a brilliant gleam that bestow an elegant contrast with neighbouring satin finished surfaces.

Perpetuating a Laureato tradition, the dial is adorned with a Clous Paris motif, executed in a sumptuous shade of indigo blue. The counters and flange are presented in black, delivering a subtle tonal variance.

Sitting at the heart of the Laureato Chronograph 42 mm is an in-house self-winding movement, the Calibre GP3300. Comprising 419 components, each decorated to the Maison’s legendary high standards, the movement will run autonomously for a minimum of 46 hours.

A rare breed

Both models are presented on integrated bracelets, proffering stylish elegance coupled with superb wearer comfort. Each limited edition, engraved with the inscription ‘Special Edition of 100 pieces’, serves as a fitting tribute to the special relationship between two nations that share a remarkable history.

The Laureato Japan ‘Aiiro’ editions will go on sale in October and will be available in a selection of authorized dealers in Japan.

TAG HEUER ENTERS ITS NEW RACING CHAPTER WITH THE TAG HEUER MONACO CHRONOGRAPH RACING GREEN

The Swiss luxury watchmaker is pleased to introduce the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green, a continuous representation of the racing heritage of TAG Heuer, and a second chapter in the Racing Monaco story. The new TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green joins the TAG Heuer Monaco collection as a celebration of the racing cars and their iconic liveries, this time honoring the British colors.

The Racing Spirit of the TAG Heuer Monaco

TAG Heuer has always been among the timekeepers most closely associated with racing, and the TAG Heuer Monaco collection is an embodiment of this ideal. When the brand introduced the model in 1969, it revolutionized the watchmaking industry. Unlike any other watch on the market, the timepiece featured the first square-cased water-resistant chronograph which housed the revolutionary Calibre 11 movement. More than a bold design statement – the TAG Heuer Monaco was named after the legendary principality that hosts one of Formula 1’s most renowned races. This relationship has held a special place in the brand’s heart and history and remains a significant aspect of TAG Heuer’s identity to this day.

To many, the TAG Heuer Monaco will always be associated with one of the greatest actors of his generation, Steve McQueen. In 1970, while filming the movie Le Mans, the Hollywood superstar chose to wear the same racing suit and watch brand as professional driver and personal trainer, Jo Siffert. By doing so, McQueen aimed to embody the role of an authentic racing driver, and quickly became a style icon in his own right, proudly sporting a Heuer Monaco timepiece.

Over the years, the TAG Heuer Monaco has continued to evolve, incorporating new materials, technologies, and design elements that make it a true work of art, swiftly becoming a symbol of the brand’s avant-garde spirit. This latest version, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green, is no exception, as it continues to pay homage to the incredible racing heritage and the indelible mark that the Maison has left on the discipline following its Racing Blue peer from 2023.

Racing’s Best Companion

With its iconic TAG Heuer Monaco, the brand has continuously been drawing a line through decades of history connecting the Maison to the world of motorsport. From the early 20th century to the 1960s, racing drivers competed with car liveries specific to their country, rather than to the manufacturer or sponsors. Each country had its own dedicated color: the vibrant Italian red, Germany’s initial use of white before transitioning to silver, and the unmistakable shade of blue associated with the French, featured last year on the Monaco Chronograph Racing Blue. For this new chapter, it is the renowned British racing green that serves as the inspiration for the brand’s latest creation, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green.

Racing green, a recognizable shade associated with British motorsports, has a storied history. The first noted car in this color palette was a Napier 50 that won the 1902 Gordon Bennett Cup under Selwyn Edge, leading to the 1903 event being hosted by Great Britain. Modern British racing teams and distinguished car manufacturers continue to use variations of this shade, making it a celebrated color in the world of motorsports and the inspiration for this year’s timepiece.

Every element of the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green is inspired by historical British racing cars and their white and yellow touches. To echo this theme, the watch boasts a silver sunray-brushed dial for a timeless and elegant look, a subtle reminder of the engine-turned dashboards seen in sports cars of the 1920’s and 1930’s.

The dial is adorned with eight applied, polished and silvered hour markers as well as 12 light green Super- LumiNova® dot markers, facilitating effortless time reading. Notably, a faceted baton marker at 12 o’clock features a vibrant yellow stripe, serving as a direct connection to the chronograph’s yellow central hand and the touches of yellow on these celebrated race cars.

The elegant green subdials feature a vibrant yet sophisticated shade and honor the traditional racing green.

Heritage is also inherent to the watch which features the historic Heuer logo, set to appeal to collectors and watch aficionados alike. In true Monaco DNA, the crown is placed at 9 o’clock, as it was initiated in 1969.

The watch is powered by the automatic chronograph Calibre 11, encased within a sandblasted grade-2 titanium case, allowing for both robustness and lightness, perfect for a sporty feel, and featuring a sapphire caseback, offering a glimpse into the movement inside.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green is fitted with a green perforated strap, for classic British gentleman aesthetics. The strap is secured with a titanium folding clasp, featuring the Heuer logo.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green is a limited edition, its caseback bearing the engraving “ONE OF 1000”. It is presented in a custom- designed black packaging with vivid yellow details.

The perfect watch for the perfect gentleman driver.
