Q: You were the first Indian woman to play on the LPGA Tour. What were the biggest challenges and breakthroughs in your journey? Smriti Mehra: The biggest challenges, aside from financial constraints, were adapting to a new country and lifestyle. I landed in Los Angeles and had to drive on the right side of the road immediately-no practice, just straight into it! My brother’s advice? “Just follow the car in front of you.” But honestly, the transition wasn’t as daunting because I made incredible friends who became my family. Americans are extremely hospitable and generous, I stayed in people’s homes because I couldn’t afford hotels, and those bonds have lasted decades. They welcomed me like I was one of their own, cooked meals for me, and truly made me feel at home. That kind of kindness and generosity helped me survive and thrive on tour.
Golf itself was another challenge. Competing at the highest level requires immense mental toughness. There were days when I doubted myself, especially as the only Indian woman on the LPGA Tour at the time. But I stayed focused, disciplined, and determined to prove that Indian women belong on the global stage of golf.
The Evolution of Women’s Golf
Q: What has changed the most in women’s golf over the years? Smriti Mehra: Media coverage has significantly improved. When I started, women’s sports were barely covered. Now, we see more visibility and recognition. Additionally, co-founding the Women’s Golf Association of India was a major step forward in growing the sport for future generations. Back then, there were barely any structured programs for women in golf. Now, we have young girls who see golf as a viable career, and that shift in mindset is incredible.
Q: What advice would you give to young female golfers aspiring to play at an international level? Smriti Mehra: Discipline is key. Motivation can be temporary, but discipline is permanent. If you learn to be disciplined, you will succeed—not just in golf, but in life. Golf is not just about talent; it’s about consistency, resilience, and having the ability to push yourself even when no one is watching. Learn to manage time, practice diligently, and stay mentally tough. Success will follow.

Q: How did your association with Omega begin? Smriti Mehra: Omega India team invited me to a golf event with Omega at DLF, in Delhi. That’s where the relationship began, and it’s been great ever since. Omega has such a rich history in sports and precision timing, so the connection with golf felt natural.
Q: How important is time management in golf? Smriti Mehra: It’s everything. If you’re not on time, you don’t play. If you don’t play, you don’t earn. Time is as important as putting food on the table in this sport. Every second counts— whether it’s sticking to a practice schedule, ensuring you’re on the tee box at the right moment, or making split-second decisions during play. Q: Do you see a connection between golf and luxury watches in terms of precision and craftsmanship? Smriti Mehra: Absolutely. Golf is all about skill, precision, and mental toughness. Q: If you could design a golf-specific Omega watch, what features would it have? Smriti Mehra: Wind direction! That would be a game-changer for golfers and even sailors.
Imagine having a watch that could analyze wind speed and direction in real time. It would take so much guesswork out of shot planning, especially on challenging courses.
A Lifelong Passion for Golf
Q: Where did your love for golf begin? Smriti Mehra: I grew up in Kolkata, home to the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, the oldest golf course outside the British Isles. My mother, Billie, was a golfer, and growing up, everyone called me “Billie ki beti” (Billie’s daughter). That pushed me to make my own name, and today, people know my mom as Simi’s mother.
Q: Your mother supported your journey as a golfer. How did that shape you? Smriti Mehra: My mother was independent and gave me the freedom to chase my dreams. She put me on a plane to America with some money and said, “If you don’t succeed, you’ll have to come back and get married.” That was motivation enough! I was determined to make it, and I feel incredibly blessed to do what I love for a living.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to say? Smriti Mehra: Golf has been my greatest passion, and I consider myself lucky to have turned that passion into a profession.

Frédérique Constant has unveiled a new edition of its Classic Tourbillon Manufacture, a direct descendant of its 2023 predecessors. The timepiece is being released in a limited edition of 150 featuring a 39-millimetre steel case with a green dial and matching strap. Its beating heart is the self-winding FC-980 manufacture movement, wholly developed and assembled in-house. The new model embodies a captivating blend of traditional Fine Watchmaking and unashamed modernity, with a green sunburst dial adding a dynamic and contemporary touch.
In 2023, the Classic Tourbillon Manufacture already featured a striking new look with an innovative case and styling; the case was crafted from solid 18-carat pink gold, since adopted by Frederique Constant for all its Manufacture pieces. Originally, 150 timepieces were produced and since that edition, only a very few have been manufactured on rare occasions, including one sporting a meteorite dial in a platinum case and another with an aventurine dial and a white gold case. Precious metals are of course not the only option; limited editions featuring steel cases are highly sought-after by collectors too, as other leading Geneva watchmaking houses can also attest.
Many such steel watches seem to retail for as much as gold editions, but that can’t be said of this new release, situated in exactly the same price range as its 2023 forebears sporting a silvered blue dial. The pricing decision reflects Frederique Constant’s unwavering aim: delivering affordable Swiss Made watchmaking luxury complete with top-level finishings.
The green dial limited edition can boast all these assets – and aims higher still. The historic tourbillon often comes in highly classical garb, with a white, grey or black dial, but this piece has daringly adopted a deep palm green dial with a radiant sunburst finish. It features two hand-polished central hands gliding over faceted hour markers; seconds are marked out directly by the tourbillon, where Frederique Constant has placed a slim central hand on the upper bridge – as discreetly as possible so as not to obscure the view of the tourbillon, with a glimpse of its innermost workings.
The Classic Manufacture’s existing 39-millimetre case has been retained, combined here with a topstitched alligator deployment strap matching the dial. The understated, classic style of the case is further enhanced by the traditional onion crown harking back to the days of pocket watches, as well as a transparent caseback through which the FC-980 calibre can be admired.
As is customary in Geneva watchmaking, its finishings include bevelling, beading and circular graining, along with straight-grained flanks and mirror polishing elsewhere. These traditional features are by no means incompatible with a contemporary touch, either: the manufacture tourbillon’s anchor and escapement wheel are made from silicon, a state-of-the-art material that Frederique Constant has used since 2008. Silicon is highly resistant to everyday magnetic fields such as those generated by computers, speakers and smartphones, and can withstand temperature fluctuations too.
In line with the Classic Tourbillon Manufacture tradition, each piece will bear an individual number on the tourbillon itself as well as on its case.
Tudor has a well-earned reputation for blending vintage-inspired aesthetics with modern performance, and the Black Bay Chrono “Turquoise” (Ref. M79360N-0024) is a perfect example of that philosophy. The “Disruptive Legacy” philosophy of Jaquet Droz mainly finds its expression as original creations, however that is not its only inspiration. In 2025, 10 years after winning the “Mechanical Exception” category at the GPHG, the Charming Bird is being reinterpreted in a Grade 5 Titanium case. It is the world’s first wristwatch with musical automaton to be made from this metal, which is as difficult to work as it is modern.
Rarely has the ‘Disruptive Legacy’ philosophy been interpreted so aptly. Here, this legacy is that of musical automata. A tradition which, at Jaquet Droz, will soon be three centuries old. Back then, the family workshop amazed courts around the world with its amazingly realistic singing birds, capable of whistling a melody in perfect tune. There are several examples still in perfect working order around the world.
However, since 1738, clockwork mechanisms have undergone not one, but many disruptions. The most important was miniaturisation. It enabled the workshop, still based in its La Chaux-de-Fonds stronghold, to move on from the music box and life-sized automaton to the wristwatch. The other revolution was in materials. Jaquet Droz has embraced this in all its dimensions: sapphire, silicon and plasma ceramic are the most recent examples. But titanium has always been resistant, both literally and figuratively.
Reputed to be one of the most difficult metals to work with, and with an unfortunate propensity to set fire to the tools used to try and tame it, titanium has long resisted machining, finishing and decoration techniques. It has also long resisted the attraction of collectors, who did not instantly appreciate its perceived value, technical prowess and immediate benefits. These include a well-proven resistance to impacts and scratches, as well as an incredible lightness on the wrist.
This is what Jaquet Droz wanted to highlight in its new Charming Bird Titanium. The watch is 20% lighter, weighing 42 grams less on the wrist. The whistling bird is more ethereal than ever.
In addition to this lightness, and despite the difficulty of machining titanium, Jaquet Droz has managed to preserve the distinctive geometry of its case. It has two unique features. First, a double sapphire crystal, which protects the movement on the dial side and, separately, protects the bird automaton at 6 o’clock. Then there’s a narrow lateral opening, between 8 and 10 o’clock, which allows the air – and therefore the melody – to circulate from inside the case to the outside world. All with a satin-brushed finish executed to perfection.
As for the movement, Jaquet Droz has retained the automaton which has been delighting the most discerning collectors for over a decade. It is fully visible through a metallic sapphire dial at 12 o’clock, which allows the hours and minutes to be read against a black background. The bird, which measures 13.5 mm, sits proudly at 6 o’clock. Hand-engraved and hand-painted, it flies through an opening in the dial towards its owner. It whistles, opens its beak, spins around, and beats its wings and tail.
The automaton has its own power reserve, wound by the crown at 2 o’clock. A simple press on its coaxial push-button triggers the sequence. It can be stopped when required by a second press. If the owner does not intervene, it can last for around thirty seconds, during which time the three notes of the bird’s whistle can be clearly distinguished. The speed of its movements and singing is not controlled mechanically, to avoid friction between metal parts that would inevitably cause wear, but magnetically. As there is no contact, there is also no noise interference, resulting in a purer melody. Made as a one-off piece, the Charming Bird Titanium is taking flight to new horizons.
The newest Navitimer shines with a radiant ice-blue dial, platinum bezel, stainless-steel case, and Breitling’s perpetual calendar chronograph manufacture movement, the Caliber B19, previously released only as part of a limited anniversary series.
For over 70 years, Breitling’s legendary Navitimer has been instantly recognizable by its circular slide rule, notched bezel, and chronograph function. As a watch that’s on every collector’s list as one of the greatest of all time, now the Navitimer gets a serious boost to its functionality with the manufacture Caliber B19, Breitling’s first perpetual calendar movement, featuring day, date, month, and moonphase. Only slight adjustments are required to keep it running for a full century.
Beloved by celebrities including Miles Davis and Serge Gainsbourg, the Navitimer was designed in 1952 for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). It was to become a watch synonymous with the jet age. Known as the first wristwatch flight computer, the circular slide rule could perform all onboard calculations. And while it began as a practical tool-watch for pilots, its influence did not end with aviation. It became a style icon for its original design.
Now the Navitimer comes equipped with Breitling’s first exclusive perpetual calendar chronograph movement, the Caliber B19, released only last year as part of Breitling’s 140th anniversary celebrations. This newest Navitimer features an ice-blue dial, complemented by a platinum bezel, in a 43 mm stainless-steel case, complete with illustrated moonphase at 12 o’clock.
The mushroom pushers enable easy use of the timekeeping functions, while the open case back makes it possible to marvel at the movement. The Navitimer B19 comes with the options of a black alligator leather strap with a comfortable folding buckle, or a seven-row stainless-steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp.

THE CALIBER B19, BREITLING’S FIRST PERPETUAL CALENDAR MANUFACTURE MOVEMENT
The Caliber B19 is the latest evolution in the brand’s move towards Breitling-exclusive movements, which began with the 2009 release of its flagship Manufacture Caliber 01— considered the gold standard of chronograph movements. The B19 combines Breitling’s chronograph specialty with a calendar complication that self-corrects for leap years and months of 28, 30, and 31 days.
In addition to rigorous independent accuracy tests to achieve COSC certification, the Caliber B19 undergoes a 16-year aging simulation that includes, among other extreme challenges, 100,000 crown winds, 3,456,000 weight turns, and 60,000 shocks at 500G.

PROTECTING THE MOVEMENT FROM HIGH G-FORCES
The patented SPRIN-g PROTECT® shock absorber system was developed by IWC’s engineering division XPL and first introduced with the Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL (Ref. IW357201) in 2021. Taking movement shock protection to the next level, it is based on a cantilever spring that cushions the movement inside the case. If the watch suffers an impact on the case, the movement and the case typically are subjected to high g-forces. The spring absorbs a large portion of these forces before they can reach the movement. Designed with a special form allowing it to evenly spread the stress across its length and width, the spring is manufactured from a bulk metallic glass (BMG). Thanks to a complex manufacturing process, this advanced material is significantly more elastic than conventional crystalline metals.
CERATANIUM® CASE AND BLACKENED MOVEMENT
The Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff x Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula OneTM Team features a case and crown made of Ceratanium®. Developed by IWC, this advanced material combines the lightness and robustness of titanium with a hardness similar to ceramic. The black dial features a grainy technical structure, which is stamped into the brass base with a special tool. The newly designed triangular black hands also feature Super-LumiNova® around their edges. The outer ring with the minute scale appears to be floating freely on lamellae attached around the dial.
The watch is powered by the IWC-manufactured 32101 calibre with a double pawl automatic winding system and a power reserve of 120 hours. The plates, bridges and oscillating mass are blackened to match the all-black design. The movement is visible through a tinted sapphire glass case back featuring a print with Toto’s signature.
