Chopard x Time Avenue: Showcasing of Luxurious Timepieces and Jewels

Exclusive Preview of Chopard’s Latest Creations

Mumbai’s top retailer, Time Avenue, recently hosted an exclusive preview of Chopard’s latest creations. The exhibit showcased the brand’s novelties unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2024 and a collection of exquisite timepieces.

Emphasis on Jewelry and Indian Clientele

Xavier Lasserre, Chopard’s Global Sales Director, emphasized the Indian clientele’s affection for the brand’s jewelry. The company also displayed some beautiful pieces, including the Alpine Eagle and L’Heure du Diamant collections, exclusive from both collections for Indian clients to experience firsthand. Lasserre stated that these pieces resonate deeply with the Indian audience, who have a rich tradition of wearing high-quality jewelry.

Celebrating a Long-Standing Partnership

Celebrating its 26th anniversary this year, Time Avenue has been a trusted partner of Chopard for nearly two decades. Led by Viraal Rajan, this Mumbai-based retailer has been a prominent supporter of independent watchmakers. Lasserre highlighted the collaborative approach between the brand and the retailer. He explained that Chopard has been in the Indian market for many years and that they had launched a unique creation of Lord Ganesh with eight pieces specifically for India.

Enhancing Brand Visibility

Lasserre also emphasized how Time Avenue’s new boutique in Mumbai has enhanced the brand’s visibility. He said they have a long-standing relationship with Time Avenue and hope it continues to grow. Nikki Rajan, Director at Time Avenue, remarked that Chopard’s collaboration with Time Avenue at the event highlights their commitment to luxury and precision in watchmaking. She said their presence in India enhances the luxury watch market and fosters a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship among enthusiasts and collectors.

Manufacturing Capabilities and Integration

Discussing Chopard’s manufacturing capabilities, Lasserre shared that they have five manufacturing facilities and are almost fully integrated, producing everything from A to Z. He noted that they even have their gold foundry, which is rare in the industry. This level of integration provides a significant advantage in serving their clients.

Expansion Plans in India

He also mentioned their recent engagement with partners in Mumbai and Delhi to expand their fine jewelry presence. He outlined their ambitious growth plans for India, with 12 locations already, new openings planned for Chennai and Goa, and discussions for Ahmedabad. He also recognized the need for boutiques in Delhi and Mumbai as part of their future plans.

Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability is a core focus for Chopard. Regarding their ethical gold commitment, Lasserre stated that their family’s values drove Chopard’s commitment to using ethical gold. He noted that brands are members of the Responsible Jewellery Council and avoid conflict diamonds, and their ethical gold sourcing ensures traceability. He highlighted that all their jewelry is now made from ethical gold. Additionally, he mentioned the launch of a new Chopard’s Lucent Steel in 2019, made of 80% recycled steel, offering better light reflection and scratch resistance.

Popular Collections

Many collectors are drawn to Chopard’s L’Heure or sports watches. Lasserre explained that for men, their Mille Miglia line represents about 80% of their sports watch volume, while their L.U.C. creations cater to the dress watch segment. For women, he noted that their Happy Sport collection, featuring moving diamonds, is their signature line.

Global Market Strategy

Finally, Lasserre discussed Chopard’s market strategies. He stated that they approach their market strategy globally, acknowledging that their clients are often international travellers. He said they focus on securing and supporting their iconic collections rather than creating market-specific approaches and noted that many of their clients, including those from India, are incredibly knowledgeable about their brand and products, often more so than their sales staff, thanks to their engagement with digital platforms and their website.

Successful Event

The event was a huge hit with watch enthusiasts and collectors. It showed the brand’s outreach, reinforcing its commitment to the Indian market.

Happy Sport: Tale of an icon

Happy Sport is the stroke of genius of a young woman driven by boundless daring and creativity. First introduced by Caroline Scheufele in 1993, it bears within it the countless transformations of an era and embodies Joie de Vivre and the free-spirited attitude to which contemporary women aspire. Having become a quintessential fashion and watchmaking icon, the Happy Sport collection has continued to stage the enchanting choreography of its dancing diamonds through a multitude of variations that have appealed to every generation, embodying a new way of contemplating time. A look back at this true watchmaking legend.

The boldness of a young designer

As a young woman, she sparked Chopard’s first profound transformation by launching the family Maison into jewellery-making with her clown pendant design. Having entered the field of design through this masterstroke, Caroline Scheufele – now serving as Co-President and Artistic Director – was driven from the early 1990s by the idea of a versatile watch whose precious, casual appearance would make it equally easy to wear on a tennis court, at a business lunch or for an evening out on the town. She picked up the concept of dancing diamonds launched by her parents – “these diamonds are happier when they are free”, as her mother exclaimed in 1976 when she initially laid eyes on the first prototype that would give rise to the Happy Diamonds collection.

Yet instead of making freely moving diamonds dance around the watch as was the case with Happy Diamonds timepieces, she decided to place them above the dial. One of her workshop foremen told her it was impossible, before nonetheless promising: “Caroline! If you manage to sell these watches, I’ll give you one rose for each of them.” That only further strengthened the determination of the woman who has always considered that “no” is not an answer. She busied herself with transforming this idea into a viable project. How could one ensure, for example, that the watch – stacked with a movement, dial, hands, two sapphire crystals and several dancing diamonds – would not be too thick?

The result presented in 1993 was a real surprise. For the first time in watchmaking history, here was a watch mingling steel and diamonds, fitted with a soft, comfortable pebble-link bracelet, set with cabochon-cut sapphires on the lugs and on the crown echoing the understated blued hands; and finally, featuring a white dial enhanced by seven diamonds caught up in an animated dance recalling the whirlwind of life itself.

The aptly named Happy Sport became a new casual chic fashion icon, acclaimed by the press and in strong demand in the markets. And the workshop foreman, who had pledged one rose for every watch sold, ended up gifting his Co-President a rosebush. Today, when Caroline Scheufele sees young women entering a Chopard boutique to treat themselves to their first Happy Sport, while remembering the model that their mother and grandmother wore before them, she playfully remembers the abundant blooms of her rosebush. This watch, which she had been told was doomed to commercial failure, has become a success that has consistently appealed to all generations of women.

A watch that accompanied women’s emancipation

As soon as it was introduced, the kinetic energy of its diamonds radiated an entrancing aura of novelty. Combining the precious nature of diamonds with the robustness of steel appeared to upend standard watch industry conventions, mirroring the norms of contemporary society which saw women breaking through the glass ceiling to play roles of unprecedented importance. While more and more assumed positions of responsibility, their influence grew steadily – within the family, in business, and in politics. A new lifestyle was needed for these heroines leading their lives with a free-spirited attitude and real independence – and fashion needed to adapt accordingly. Happy Sport was – and remains – entirely in line with this trend, since it looks just as good with jeans and sports shoes as it does with an LBD and high heels, boldly taking over catwalks, red carpets and women’s wrists. “A watch that I can wear 24 hours a day!”, as Caroline Scheufele describes it.

Over the years, Happy Sport has generated a magnificent array of interpretations equalled by very few other watches. This abundance has enabled the collection to become the first collector’s item ladies’ watch. The most memorable examples that spring to mind are of course the original Happy Sport presented in 1993, as well as a full-set Happy Sport Diamantissimo jewellery version created in 2013 to commemorate the collection’s 20th anniversary, and several tourbillons including a Happy Sport Chrono All Black version. Whether hitting the slopes with Happy Snowflakes or the beach with Happy Fish and Happy Ocean, the collection follows women all the way to the Cannes Film Festival with Happy Palm, the first watch in the ethical gold collection celebrating artistic crafts with a Japanese lacquered Urushi dial graced with a dancing Palme d’Or.

A new way of contemplating time

In almost 30 years of existence, this contemporary watchmaking icon has continued to shine as brightly as ever, ample proof that it both embodies its time and transcends successive decades with their changing styles. Much more than a new way to wear a watch, with Happy Sport Caroline Scheufele has invented a whole new relationship with time. Looking at it is not merely about reading the time, but about delighting in the perpetual ballet of these Happy Diamonds whose infinite dance – synchronised by the movements of the choreographer-wearer – inevitably sparks a smile, an emotion, or a magical moment. More than a watch, Happy Sport is a modern-day talisman, to be taken everywhere in order to share a Joie de Vivre-infused dynamic and a carefree spirit.

The combined dexterity of several Artisans exercising their talents within the Manufacture enables these precious stones to move unhindered. Housed in a thin spinning top-shaped metal capsule, each dancing diamond is placed between two sapphire crystals when the watch is cased-up. This is a delicate task implying great care to prevent any dust being caught up and thus potentially interfering with the movement of the dancing gemstones. Their dance is meticulously controlled so as to ensure that time does not alter the intensity of the show being staged. Chopard proudly cultivates this expertise to perpetuate the Joie de Vivre inherent in its creations. The wide range of skills cultivated in the workshops of the Maison thus include those of the choreography Artisan, whose mission is to set – and keep – diamonds dancing in perfect harmony.

L.LEROY MINUTE REPEATER FLYING TOURBILLON

INSPIRED BY THE HISTORICAL TACT WATCH MADE BY LEROY IN 1810, THE MAISON HAS CREATED THE UNIQUE GRAND COMPLICATION PIECE “L.LEROY MINUTE REPEATER FLYING TOURBILLON”, AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT THE PRESTIGIOUS CELLINI BOUTIQUE IN NEW YORK.

Founded in Paris in 1785 under Charles Leroy, himself the son of watchmaker, L.Leroy has written some of the finest chapters in the history of French watchmaking and chronometry, developing a wealth of technical and inventive treasures for over two centuries.

This human, artistic and industrial adventure is marked by illustrious names including Marie Antoinette, Proust, Matisse, Napoleon, Queen Victoria, Roosevelt, Chopin, Nobel, Bugatti, to mention but a few owners of a watch signed Leroy.

Faithful to its extraordinary and inimitable watchmaking heritage, L.Leroy has created the stunning unique piece “Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon” inspired by a rare ancient pendant tact watch made by Leroy around 1810 for the Prince Emil Maximilian Leopold August of Hesse and which is now part of the prestigious collection of the Patek Philippe Museum.

At that period, when electricity was unknown and luminous hands were not yet invented, this type of watch allowed the time to be read, even in the dark, by touching the hand that moved in the direction of the twelve diamonds on the periphery of the case, acting as indices.

In the 21st century, L.Leroy reinterprets this exquisite timepiece. A challenge that sees the Maison blend, in perfect harmony, its rich historical legacy with the demands of the contemporary era.

Today, the “L.Leroy Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon”, a striking and sophisticated wristwatch which appeals to eyes and ears, enriches the watchmaking selection of Cellini in New York, one of the world’s leading stores that devotes great attention to exclusive high-end watch brands.

A UNIQUE DESIGN AND A SUPERLATIVE MECHANICS

A watch with a very complex construction, both in terms of style and mechanics, which required the highly qualified skills of watchmaking technicians for the development and assembly of its manual winding movement, comprising a flying tourbillon and the minute repeater mechanism. Not forgetting the master engraver and the specialists in top-level finishing.

The case

The case, measuring 43 mm in diameter, is crafted from two metals. The case body, lugs, case back, repeater slide and crown are made of grade 5 titanium while the bezel and cover on the case back are made of PD210 18K palladium white gold.

Completely hand-engraved with a precious floral motif, an operation far from easy on titanium parts given its hardness, it took no less than 120 hours of work by highly skilled master engravers. This delicate art allows these superlative decorations to stand out against the metal, playing with the light.

The transparent case back is protected by the 18K white gold cover which boasts a magnificent engraving that evokes another horological masterpiece from the Maison L.Leroy: the “Leroy 01”.

Awarded the Grand Prix at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900, it’s an impressive pocket watch with 975 components, 27 precise and functional indications including 17 relating directly to the measurement of time, exceptional decorations and engravings. It was considered the most complicated watch in the world until 1989.

The “L.Leroy Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon” is complemented by an integrated aquamarine strap in soft calfskin. It fastens to the wrist with a round folding clasp in 18K white gold, bearing the brand’s interlaced double “L” logo. In perfect harmony with the case, it is also engraved by hand.

An eye-catching dial and a stunning calibre

The “L.Leroy Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon” features a unique and out-of-the-ordinary time display for a model from the 2000s, but legitimised by the historical piece from which it takes its inspiration. It has a rotating dial boasting a superlative flinqué soleil decoration with a translucent aquamarine varnish finish. This pattern emanates near a perimeter point, where the rhodium-plated, arrow-shaped, hand-engraved hour hand is fixed and extends its rays around the circumference of the display.

When the dial rotates, the arrow-shaped hand points towards the diamond markers set on the precious hand-engraved white gold bezel and indicates the hour. There are 24 diamonds totalling 1.35 carats, the larger ones mark the hours while the smaller ones indicate the half-hour.

To know the precise time, the minute repeater comes into action. This sophisticated mechanism, reputed to be the queen of complications, is developed on a hand-wound movement, which is also equipped with a flying tourbillon that improves its chronometric performance.
Once the repeater slide, positioned between 8:30 and 9:30, is activated, the time will be audible acoustically thanks to the finely tuned chiming mechanism. The design of the case has been meticulously studied and developed to amplify the different tones of the sound indicating the hours, quarters and minutes emitted by the two gongs struck by the two hammers, visible on the case back.

The powerful “engine” which drives this work of art is a hand-wound in-house calibre, consisting of 321 components, beating at a frequency of 3Hz/ 21.600 vibrations per hour. It comprises the minute repeater mechanism on two gongs, a single barrel guaranteeing 90-hour power reserve and the flying tourbillon which performs a complete rotation in one minute.

Lovers of fine watchmaking mechanics will be able to admire this amazing movement with its single bridge, finely hand-engraved with hand-bevelled edges, by opening the 18K white gold cover on the case back using the discreet push-button at 4 o’clock.

The “L.Leroy Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon” once again testifies to the brand’s technical expertise and its mastery of the art of decoration. A true joy for the lucky collector who, will enrich his collection with a unique and exclusive masterpiece of time.

HUBLOT’S THREE LIMITED EDITIONS FOR THE LOVE OF ARGENTINE FOOTBALL

Hublot is launching two Big Bang Unicos and one Classic Fusion in partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

Some years are more important than others. For football fans, and supporters of the Argentine team in particular, 2022 was one of those years. On Sunday 18 December 2022, Argentina and France finished level at three-all in the final but, in the end, it was Argentina that won their third World Cup 4-2 on penalties.

This marked a historic moment not only for Argentina, but also for Hublot. Having been involved with football since 2006, the Nyon-based Manufacture had begun its partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) just four months earlier; The watchmaking company and the national team had decided to join forces on 1 September that same year. Already the Official Timekeeper of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Hublot has now successfully created a fusion between the Argentine team and the World Cup it won on 18 December 2022.

Hublot Loves Argentina!

Hublot’s love for Argentina is nothing new. In 2010, the Nyon-based Manufacture unveiled a Big Bang Maradona limited to 250 pieces. And the love story didn’t end there. When Hublot and the AFA merged their talents in 2022, Hublot produced 100 Big Bang e pieces in honour of Argentina. And today marks the first time that Hublot has produced a series of mechanical chronographs exclusively for the AFA.

To celebrate this exceptional journey which, since the final on 18 December 2022, has placed Argentina at the centre of the footballing world, Hublot is paying tribute to the AFA by launching three special editions for all its fans: two Big Bang Unicos and one Classic Fusion.

Family DNA

These special editions have three points in common. Firstly: all three are limited editions: the Big Bang Unico Titanium AFA (25 pcs), King Gold (10 pcs) and Classic Fusion AFA (140 pcs). Secondly: all three models are chronographs: the ultimate complication for sporting feats. The two Big Bangs are driven by the latest- generation Unico Manufacture movement – the HUB1280 – while the Classic Fusion is powered by the HUB1143 calibre.

Finally, the third point in common is that they are all dressed in blue, the colour of Argentina. The national flag of Argentina features blue stripes, and the two Big Bangs pay tribute to the national team’s home kit with this same shade of sky blue. For away matches, the team wears a navy blue shirt, which has been reproduced on the Classic Fusion.

The most exclusive of the three pieces is the Big Bang Unico King Gold, which is available as a limited edition of 10 pieces. Measuring 42 mm in diameter, it features a ceramic bezel in sky blue to match the official jersey of the AFA – the Albiceleste – a shade which is also picked up on the piece’s rubber strap. The case and pushers are made of King Gold, Hublot’s proprietary alloy containing platinum. This alloy offers a warmer gold colour than traditional 18K 5N gold. The indexes, hands and counters on the dial side also feature King Gold.

At 9 o’clock, the small seconds is laser-engraved with a reproduction of the authentic World Cup, as won in 2022. The same detail is found on the Big Bang Unico Titanium – available in a limited edition of 25 pieces – with which it also shares a ceramic bezel and strap in Albiceleste sky blue.

Finally, the 45-mm Classic Fusion Chronograph Titanium sports the navy blue of the team’s away kit. This colour features on the ceramic bezel and strap, as well as on the sunray dial of this limited edition of 140 pieces.

“What makes Hublot different in the world of football is not only the strength of its commitment to our players and teams, but also its loyalty. The “Hublot loves Football” campaign has been running for almost 20 years now. Our fans feel this love and know this passion: it’s an emotional, intimate bond between us. We are very proud to have three limited series that celebrate the fusion of our sporting and watchmaking talents. – CLAUDIO TAPIA PRESIDENT, ARGENTINE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (AFA)

HUBLOT

Hublot is a Swiss watch manufacturer founded in 1980 and based in Nyon. For its first ever timepiece, this fundamentally disruptive company combined gold with a rubber strap in a case with a design inspired by a ship’s porthole (hublot in French). Thus, the Art of Fusion was born, blending tradition, innovation, craftsmanship, worlds and talents. It became the brand’s aesthetic and technical signature.

This identity was strengthened in 2005 with the Big Bang, which attested to an unrivalled know-how in terms of complications, manufacture movements and state-of-the-art materials. Carbon, titanium, ceramic and sapphire have been developed on this model to technical extremes.

This ground-breaking, high-quality approach to watchmaking is summed up in its philosophy ‘Be First, Unique and Different.’ It gradually led to other collections with innovative designs: Classic Fusion, Shaped Collection (Spirit of Big Bang, Square Bang) and Manufacture Pieces. These draw on high levels of craftsmanship, both in terms of the materials so dear to Hublot (such as Magic Gold, brightly-coloured ceramics and sapphires) and its manufacture movements (Unico chronograph, Meca-10 and large complications such as the Tourbillon, the Cathedral Minute Repeater and the specific
Manufacture Pieces movements).

Hublot’s world extends to powerful partnerships including football. ‘Hublot Loves Football’ has become the slogan at the world’s biggest sporting events (such as the FIFA World CupTM, Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA EUROTM) and through its ambassadors. This love of football continues in art, design, music, sport, fine dining and sailing. Lastly, Hublot’s implication in joint environmental projects with SORAI and Polar Pod reflects its concern for the issues of the day.

Over 130 boutiques around the world share Hublot’s fervour and values, alongside the Hublot.com e-commerce site.

THE ULTIMATE ATHLEISURE WATCH IN A SLEEK NEW SIZE

BREITLING’S ENDURANCE PRO GETS A 38 MM ASSORTMENT, A COLLECTION-WIDE DESIGN REFRESH AND A POWERED-UP TRIATHLON SQUAD

The Breitling Endurance Pro is a multitasking watch that combines the best qualities of the brand’s technical and lifestyle collections. Positioned in the Professional range, it is up to the challenges of a rigorous workout but also serves as a vibrant fashion statement for men and women, making it the ultimate athleisure watch.

The Endurance Pro, previously available exclusively as a 44 mm model, now comes in a universal 38 mm size with five colorful executions. To celebrate the launch, Breitling is welcoming two new members to its Triathlon Squad: reigning IRONMAN® Women’s World Champion Lucy Charles-Barclay and Sam Laidlow, the youngest male winner in IRONMAN history. These exceptional sportspeople join multi-title-holding triathletes Jan Frodeno and Daniela Ryf on Breitling’s crew of pros who know that holding and defending titles demands a watch as tough as their races.

“This is a watch that was built to swim, bike, run, and keep up with you no matter the intensity ofyour workout—plus, it looks great as a casual sports chronograph,” says Breitling CEO Georges Kern. “This new size makes it accessible to an even wider range of wearers.”

ENDURANCE PRO: REVIVAL OF THE FITTEST

With its ultralightweight case and comfortable, form-fitting rubber strap, the Endurance Pro is designed to appeal to committed athletes and casual sports enthusiasts alike. It’s made of Breitlight®, a robust material three times lighter than titanium and nearly six times lighter than stainless steel. The material is also nonmagnetic, thermally stable, hypoallergenic, and highly resistant to scratches, traction, and corrosion.

On the new 38 mm Endurance Pro models, straps and crowns are colored to match the inner bezel rings in a choice of five hues: purple, pink, white, light blue, or red. Meanwhile, the existing 44 mm Endurance Pro is also getting a refreshed treatment with a new streamlined rubber strap in navy, orange, white, and light-blue colorways. On both sizes, the hands and oversized numerals are coated with Super-LumiNova® for easy reading in low light.

Like all watches in Breitling’s Professional range, the Endurance Pro is powered by a  thermocompensated SuperQuartz™ movement, a technology that is 10 times more accurate than conventional quartz. The 44 mm model contains the Breitling Caliber 82, and the 38 mm size is powered by slightly smaller Caliber 83. Both are COSC-certified chronometers designed to deliver exceptional precision.

BREITLING’S ULTRALIGHT WATCH HERITAGE

The Endurance Pro is the modern evolution of the Breitling Sprint, introduced in the 1970s as a performance chronograph for the era’s fashion-conscious athletes. Its lightweight resin case and heart-rate-monitoring pulsometer scale made it ideal for sports, the chronograph gave it professional tool-watch status, and its vibrant colors provided the ’70s dayglo cool.

Built for competition, the modern Endurance Pro retains these elements. It’s water-resistant to 10 bar (100 meters) and has a tactile rubberized crown for excellent grip and maneuverability. It can time intervals to 1/10th of a second, take the pulse of an athlete, and keep competitors on the right track with its solar compass. Like the Sprint before it, the Endurance Pro does it all in style and vivid color.

THE TRIATHLON SQUAD GETS TWO NEW MEMBERS

Breitling’s Professional watches are designed to perform in the most extreme conditions and the toughest competitions on Earth. The same can be said for the professional athletes on Breitling’s Triathlon Squad starring in Breitling’s new Endurance Pro campaign.

Meet the members:

JAN FRODENO
The German Olympic gold medalist, three-time IRONMAN World Champion, and two-time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion defines what it means to push your limits. He is the first person to win all major triathlon titles for different distances. Throughout his career, Frodeno has broken several world records in the full distance, staying ahead of the competition for 15 years.

DANIELA RYF
There’s never been a limit to what Daniela Ryf can achieve. Swiss-made like Breitling, Daniela is a five-time IRONMAN World Champion, a five-time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion, and the current holder of the world record for long-distance triathlon. Her 2018 victories marked the third time that she achieved the prestigious “double”—winning a 70.3 and Kona World Championship in the same year—something that no other triathlete has ever done.

LUCY CHARLES-BARCLAY
Lucy Charles-Barclay is redefining endurance sports. This British powerhouse won the 2023 IRONMAN World Championship after finishing as a runner-up four times. She is also an IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion, known for her relentless drive and phenomenal swim prowess. Her determination and tenacity make her a standout in the triathlon world.

SAM LAIDLOW
Sam Laidlow showed great potential to become a professional triathlete from a very young age. His relentless training paid off in 2023 when, at just 24 years old, the French athlete became the youngest male winner in the history of the IRONMAN World Championship. Known for his impressive bike splits and fearless racing style, Laidlow is setting new benchmarks and inspiring the next generation of triathletes.

BREITLING

Founded in 1884, Breitling is a leading Swiss watchmaker. The innovative company invented the modern chronograph and pioneered the navigational tool watch. PEQUIGNET’S ATTITUDE DOUCE FRANCE, A SUBTLE BURST OF COLOR

Launched in 2023, PEQUIGNET’s Attitude Douce France collection comes back this year in a smaller diameter version. This new 34mm variant, with its delicate elegance, remains available in 6 subtle shades. It adorns the wrists of women and men with style.

This smaller diameter enriches this colorful family, inspired by the French seaside heritage. Douce France is the colorful variation of the Attitude watch, the first PEQUIGNET collection powered by the Calibre Initial®. Until now, it was available with a 39mm case.

Attitude was born in 2021. This refined watch with timeless lines was first launched in gold, in a limited and numbered edition. A steel version followed in 2022. In 2023, the limited-edition Attitude Élysée in association with the Presidency of the Republic was revealed.

ATTITUDE DOUCE FRANCE, IT’S TIME TO SHRINK

This new version of Attitude Douce France fits into the trend of small format watches. With its 34mm case and its «slender» design carefully attends to its proportions and quality of execution.

The Attitude Douce France collection is available with a palette of varied colors: pink, pastel blue, tangy orange, white, light grey or dark grey. On each model, the shade is in total harmony from the dial to the leather strap.

The Douce France collection is the perfect embodiment of a refined seaside lifestyle.

It invites you to stroll through the most prestigious French seaside resorts:

  • Attitude Ocean Blue evokes the blue of the Atlantic Ocean of Biarritz.
  • Attitude Provence Orange is inspired by the bitter orange of Nice, beloved by high perfumery.
  • Attitude Sailboat White draws inspiration from the white of elegant yachts moored in Saint- Tropez.
  • Attitude Boardwalk Grey pays homage to the legendary «planches» of Deauville beach.
  • Attitude Estuary Grey recalls the grey that covers the granite facades of the «malouinières» in Saint-Malo.
  • Attitude Festival Pink evokes Cannes and its glamorous festival.

ATTITUDE DOUCE FRANCE, MANUFACTURED WATCH

Equipped with the Calibre Initial®, the third movement from the Maison PEQUIGNET, this watch is a jewel of technology. The in-house caliber that powers Attitude is characterized by its 65-hour power reserve, its patented semi-instantaneous date jump system, and its superb openworked oscillating weight, admired through its sapphire caseback.

Resolutely local and sustainable, the Calibre Initial® combines technicality, precision, and reliability. All of its components are sourced within 80km of Morteau, where are the workshops of the Manufacture, and 72% are from France.

With the Attitude Douce France collection, the PEQUIGNET Manufacture remains faithful to its desire to promote French excellence in watchmaking.

L’HEURE ET LA MANIÈRE

PEQUIGNET embodies a French vision of time: the time wedare to dedicate to ourselves, the time we draw away from. PEQUIGNET, SUSTAINABLE WATCHMAKING EXCELLENCE

As a French high-end watchmaking manufacture, PEQUIGNET holds the label of “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant”. The conception and production of its watches and movements take place in its workshops located in Morteau, at the heart of the French Jura. Founded in 1973 by Émile Péquignet, this watchmaking house has always created timepieces that break free from conventional codes and norms. PEQUIGNET stands out as one of the few independent watchmaking houses.

In 2010, PEQUIGNET evolved into a manufacture, welcoming highly skilled watch engineers. The Manufacture designs exceptional calibres, incorporating the latest technologies that bring life to its innovative and elegant watch creations.

In 2011, PEQUIGNET made a mark by creating its own movement: the Calibre Royal®, the sole high-end French movement. It is designed and assembled by the PEQUIGNET Manufacture. A hand-wound version of the Calibre Royal® was introduced in 2018, followed by a third movement, the Calibre Initial®.

In 2021, PEQUIGNET joined Enowe Excellence, an organization founded by Hugues Souparis, a former industrialist and entrepreneur committed to supporting French excellence in craftsmanship.

In 2024, PEQUIGNET once again asserts its French specificity by designing a flying tourbillon, the Calibre Royal® Tourbillon, the fourth in-house movement. This fundamental step in the development of a Manufacture is a strong marker. It legitimizes and confirms the know-how achieved by PEQUIGNET. This exceptional watch allows the Manufacture to join the small group of elite watchmakers.

PEQUIGNET at game time

To celebrate the Olympic events (the 33rd of the modern era), PEQUIGNET Manufacture, standard bearer of French watchmaking know-how, has imagined a specific model, the Royale Paris 2024 edition, which will be produced in a limited series of 33 pieces.

Based on the Royale Paris collection, the most “Parisian” of PEQUIGNET watches, this exclusive version presents a unique and “blue, white, red” colored large date display.

The iconic Eiffel Tower elegantly adorns the sapphire case back of the Royale Paris 2024 edition. To achieve this stylized engraving, PEQUIGNET has pushed the boundaries of innovation, using the lift-off process, an advanced microelectronics technique. Rarely used in the watchmaking industry, this additive process allowed the French Manufacture to precisely engrave this very complex motif. This high-definition solution combines aesthetics with technical prowess.

Three straps are offered: blue with red stitching, red with white stitching, and white with blue stitching.

The Royale Paris 2024 edition features a 41mm diameter case and an elegant white opaline dial. It is powered by the Calibre Royal®, a true 100% French innovation masterpiece, designed and assembled in the city of Morteau (Eastern France, in the Franche-Comté region), in the historic workshops of the Manufacture.

It is the first and only French-made mechanism that integrates all complications on the same plate. The small seconds at 4 o’clock, the day and date located in a double window at 12 o’clock with an instant jump at midnight, and the 88-hour power reserve positioned at 8 o’clock complete the functions of this version.

L’HEURE ET LA MANIÈRE

PEQUIGNET embodies a French vision of time: the time we dare to dedicate to ourselves, the time we draw away from. PEQUIGNET is designed for independent spirits, those who seek to assert their freedom, emancipate themselves from conventions, and stand out without showing off. PEQUIGNET aims to offer an uninhibited Haute Horlogerie experience in its own distinctive way.

The Royale Paris 2024 edition will be available from July 2024.

SUMMER VIBES: ZENITH UNVEILS THE DEFY SKYLINE SKELETON IN WHITE CERAMIC

As the days get longer and mercury rises, ZENITH is celebrating the summer season with the first-ever DEFY Skyline model in white ceramic, paired with a blue skeleton movement and dial for the perfect aestival touch.

A modern successor to the very first ZENITH DEFY wristwatch model from 1969, the DEFY Skyline seamlessly merges the past and present with bold architectural lines and unwavering robustness that are the hallmarks of the line. With this new edition, the DEFY Skyline Skeleton combines the symmetrical, open movement and dial with a pristine white ceramic exterior – a first for the DEFY Skyline collection. With alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces, the highly scratch-resistant white ceramic case and dodecagonal bezel offer a striking rendition of the all-occasions DEFY silhouette. With a water-resistance of 10 ATM (100 metres), there isn’t a summertime activity that the DEFY Skyline Skeleton in White Ceramic can’t handle.

Perfectly complementing this new DEFY Skyline Skeleton’s white ceramic exterior is its intense blue open dial and skeleton movement. Constantly shifting with the light and revealing different nuances of blue, the open dial takes on the form of ZENITH’s famous four-pointed star from 1969, a recurring motif in the story of the DEFY range. It reveals the open El Primero 3620 SK movement beneath, which has also been finished in ZENITH’s signature blue tone recalling the night sky. In lieu of a traditional seconds dial, the DEFY Skyline features the world’s first and only constant 1/10th of a second running indicator, completing one rotation every 10 seconds (and serving as a gentle reminder to make every moment count this summer).

Conceived with versatility in mind, the DEFY Skyline Skeleton White Ceramic comes on an integrated white ceramic bracelet, which seamlessly follows the contours and mixed brushed and polished finish of the case. A bright white patterned rubber strap that matches the ceramic is also provided to make the most of the case’s ingenious quick strap-change mechanism, which requires no tools to operate.

The DEFY Skyline Skeleton in White Ceramic is powered by the El Primero 3620 SK automatic high-frequency skeleton calibre, featuring a 1/10th of a second indicator that’s driven directly from the 5Hz escapement. It features a power reserve of approximately 55 hours and is endowed with a stop-second mechanism for precise time-setting.

The DEFY Skyline Skeleton in White Ceramic is available in small quantities from all ZENITH physical and online boutiques as well as authorized retailers around the world.

ZENITH: TIME TO REACH YOUR STAR.

ZENITH exists to inspire individuals to pursue their dreams and make them come true – against all odds. Since its establishment in 1865, ZENITH became the first vertically integrated Swiss watch manufacture, and its watches have accompanied extraordinary figures that dreamt big and strived to achieve the impossible – from Louis Blériot’s history-making flight across the English Channel to Felix Baumgartner’s record-setting stratospheric free-fall jump. Zenith is also highlighting visionary and trailblazing women by celebrating their accomplishments and creating the DREAMHERS platform where women share their experiences and inspire others to fulfil their dreams.

With innovation as its guiding star, ZENITH exclusively features in-house developed and manufactured movements in all its watches. Since the creation of the El Primero in 1969, the world’s first automatic chronograph calibre, ZENITH has gone on to master high-frequency
precision and offers time measurements in fractions of a second, including 1/10th of a second in the Chronomaster collection and 1/100th of a second in the DEFY collection. Because innovation is synonymous with responsibility, the ZENITH HORIZ-ON initiative affirms the brand’s commitments to inclusion & diversity, sustainability and employee wellbeing. ZENITH has been shaping the future of Swiss watchmaking since 1865, accompanying those who dare to challenge themselves and reach new heights. The time to reach your star is now.

L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25′ Year of the Dragon

Eight-piece limited edition in ethical 18-carat rose gold

Chopard is proud to present the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25′ Year of the Dragon’, a limited-edition masterpiece that marries the brand’s innovative horological technology with the rich symbolism of the Chinese zodiac. This exclusive series, consisting of just eight pieces, features an ethical 18-carat rose gold case and is certified by the prestigious Poinçon de Genève hallmark.

A Tribute to Chopard Manufacture’s 25th Anniversary

This timepiece marks a technical milestone as it introduces the L.U.C 98.06-L jumping-hour movement. Presented for the first time on the occasion of Chopard Manufacture’s 25th Anniversary, this movement powers the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25, offering an impressive eight-day power reserve thanks to its four-barrel Chopard Quattro technology.

Artistry and Craftsmanship

The 40 mm-diameter case frames a dial that is a true work of art. It features a hand-engraved dragon motif inspired by a tapestry from the Qing dynasty. This detailed engraving, requiring over 100 hours of meticulous craftsmanship, is highlighted by a patina that gives the dial an antique appearance. The dragon’s depiction—majestic mane, raised paws, and skimming the waves—embodies imperial authority and good fortune.

Technical Excellence

The L.U.C 98.06-L movement is one of the rare jumping-hour movements with such a generous power reserve. Its precision is enhanced by a Phillips terminal curve balance-spring and a swan’s neck regulator. The movement is visible through an exhibition case-back, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship and ensuring high chronometric performance.

Elegant Design

Paired with a hand-sewn strap in burgundy salmon leather, the watch evokes the dragon’s scales, completing the timepiece’s aesthetic unity. The ethical 18-carat rose gold case features a glare-proof sapphire crystal and a crown adorned with the L.U.C logo.

Specifications

  • Case: 40 mm diameter, 10.30 mm thickness, 50 meters water resistance
  • Movement: L.U.C 98.06-L, mechanical manual winding, 240 components, 192 hours power reserve, 28,800 vph

One-of-a-kind model in ethical 18-carat white gold

Chopard celebrates the Chinese zodiac with the L.U.C Full Strike’ Year of the Dragon’, an extraordinary one-of-a-kind timepiece combining Grand Feu enamel artistry and Chopard’s renowned minute repeater technology.

.

A Unique Tribute to the Dragon

This timepiece features a dragon motif on a Grand Feu enamel dial, crafted by a master Artisan of the Manufacture. The bezel is set with baguette-cut diamonds totalling 2.74 carats, accentuating the watch’s luxurious appeal. The L.U.C Full Strike is powered by the L.U.C Calibre 08.01-L, a minute repeater movement acclaimed for its crystal-clear sound, made possible by sapphire gongs integrated with the watch glass.

Artistic Mastery

The Grand Feu enamel dial is a testament to centuries-old craftsmanship, involving delicate applications of coloured powders and multiple firings in a high-temperature kiln. The dragon’s motif naturally guides the dial’s reading, with its tail skirting the power-reserve counter. The bezel’s diamond setting is a nod to Chopard’s gem-setting expertise.

Innovative Mechanics

The L.U.C Calibre 08.01-L features several patented mechanisms, including a strikework-pusher disengagement system, to prevent damage and ensure seamless operation. A separate barrel dedicated to the strikework ensures consistent intensity and uninterrupted sequences, making this timepiece a paragon of mechanical ingenuity.

The L.U.C Collection: Horological Excellence

Since the launch of the L.U.C 1860 in 1997, Chopard Manufacture has consistently demonstrated mastery over major horological complications. Between Fleurier and Geneva, Chopard designs, develops, produces, assembles, decorates, and certifies all its timepieces. The L.U.C collection is a tribute to Karl-Friedrich Scheufele’s dedication to preserving traditional watchmaking and artistic crafts.

These new timepieces, inspired by the year of the dragon, highlight Chopard’s exceptional craftsmanship and innovative spirit, celebrating both heritage and modernity.

CLASSIC FUSION ESSENTIAL GREY: Volume III

Hublot is writing the third chapter in the story of its Essential Grey. The 2024 release includes two Classic Fusion models in a radiant grey, available exclusively online.

Hublot is reprising its iconic Essential Grey collection. It is one of the Manufacture’s most popular vintages thanks to its exclusivity: a single model, a single colour, once a year, sold through a single channel.

More than an event, the arrival of the Essential Grey has come to define the Hublot year. Collectors are eagerly awaiting this moment – especially those who succeed in getting their hands on all the consecutive vintages, making up a complete set of pieces. These collectors are rare, but some managed to obtain first the Big Bang Unico Essential Grey, followed by the Spirit of Big Bang Essential Grey, and they are now looking forward to completing the hat-trick with the new Classic Fusion Essential Grey!

“The Essential Grey is one of our most eagerly awaited recurring series. It’s the kind of curve ball we like at Hublot: At a time when so many brands and studios are struggling to guess what the next colour trend will be, we have decided to keep this essential grey, unique and different, year after year, because we know it will be a timeless collector’s item. In fact, its success proves that it already is!”  -RICARDO GUADALUPE, HUBLOT CEO

This year, the decision to choose the Classic Fusion model was no coincidence. Alongside its most disruptive creations, Hublot likes to regularly highlight the importance of its founding models. This has recently led to the appearance of understated, streamlined ‘Time Only’ versions of the Big Bang. Essential Grey is part of this same dynamic: A reminder that Hublot, beyond its world of unbridled creativity, is first and foremost a leading watch manufacturer, the creator of numerous designs which, for more than 30 years, have been at the forefront of the watchmaking scene. Iconic, timeless watches that, even without bright colours and complications, remain monuments to design and elegance.

This is what defines the two Classic Fusion pieces in the 2024 Essential Grey vintage. Both come with 100% titanium cases and bezels, the first measuring 42 mm, the second 45 mm. Both feature all the hallmarks of a genuine Classic Fusion: integrated bracelet, satin-finished bezel with 6 functional screws with H-shaped head, exclusive textured rubber strap, and sunray finished dial with three central hands complemented by a discreet date window.

The most discerning customers will appreciate a subtlety that they may be the only ones to see: As the diameters of the two models differ by 3 mm (42 mm and 45 mm), Hublot has ensured that they are fitted with a calibre adapted to each volume (10.4 mm high for the first, 10.95 for the second). This refinement reflects the extreme attention to detail so dear to the hearts of watchmaking collectors.

The 42 mm Classic Fusion Essential Grey beats to the rhythm of the HUB1110 calibre, which is just 3.61 mm thick, while its 45 mm big brother is powered by the HUB1112 movement, measuring 4.26 mm. This “made- to-measure” choice shows respect for the design and engineering, which perfectly blends the forms and functions specific to each case. In the interests of fairness, however, each piece offers the same level of mechanical excellence, with a guaranteed power reserve of 42 hours.

These draw on high levels of craftsmanship, both in terms of the materials so dear to Hublot (such as Magic Gold, brightly-coloured ceramics and sapphires) and its manufacture movements (Unico chronograph, Meca-10 and high complications such as the Tourbillon, the Cathedral Minute Repeater and the specific Manufacture Pieces movements).

Over 135 Boutiques around the world share Hublot’s fervour and values, alongside the Hublot.com e-commerce site.
