Hublot Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons: Art Meets Watchmaking

Luxury watchmaking has never been content with simply telling time. The most interesting watches often exist somewhere between engineering, design and culture, and Hublot’s latest collaboration with Jeff Koons pushes that idea into distinctly sculptural territory.

Unveiled in New York on 16 September 2026, the Hublot Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons transforms Koons’ instantly recognisable Balloon Dog into a wristwatch. Available in mirror-polished stainless steel, red anodized aluminium and blue anodized aluminium, the collection is limited to 200 pieces in each edition.

The result is not simply a Classic Fusion decorated with references to an artwork. Hublot and Koons have rethought the architecture of the watch itself, creating a timepiece that appears almost as though it has been inflated.

From Balloon Sculpture to Wristwatch

Jeff Koons’ Balloon Dog, created between 1994 and 2000 as part of his Celebration series, takes one of the most familiar forms of childhood play and turns it into something permanent and monumental.

That transformation is central to Koons’ artistic language. Something temporary becomes enduring; something ordinary becomes iconic. Hublot sees a natural connection between that philosophy and its own approach to watchmaking, particularly its long-standing interest in combining unexpected materials, shapes and ideas.

For the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog, the challenge was therefore much greater than placing an artistic motif on an existing watch.

The 42mm Classic Fusion was fundamentally re-engineered around the visual language of an inflatable sculpture. Its normally sleek architecture gives way to rounded, convex and domed forms designed to create the impression of volume and internal pressure.

That distinction matters. This is not a conventional art-inspired dial. The artwork has influenced the physical architecture of the watch.

A Classic Fusion That Looks Inflated

Almost every visible component contributes to the illusion.

The sapphire crystal has a raised, domed profile, while the titanium H-shaped screws feature inflated heads. The dial itself adopts a convex, padded appearance, and the case follows the same rounded visual vocabulary.

Even the strap has been integrated into the concept. Its metallic leather and rubber construction continues the soft, padded aesthetic, while the attachment points have been softened rather than left with the sharper geometry traditionally associated with a sports-luxury watch.

Then come the details that make the connection to Balloon Dog unmistakable.

The crown is shaped like a balloon’s inflation valve. A flexible decorative “balloon tail” appears at 10:30, while the seconds hand carries a Balloon Dog-shaped counterweight. The hour and minute hands and dial indexes incorporate inflated Super-LumiNova elements.

It is playful, but the execution is anything but casual.

Three Interpretations, One Concept

Hublot has produced the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog in three distinct finishes.

Red

The red edition uses polished red anodized aluminium for the case, bezel and caseback, complemented by a red rubber balloon-tail detail. Its full red dial features domed appliques with 3D white Super-LumiNova and Jeff Koons’ signature at 6 o’clock.

Reference 542.UR.8170.NR.JKN26, it measures 42mm in diameter and 11mm thick, with 50 metres of water resistance.

Blue

The blue version follows the same sculptural construction but uses polished blue anodized aluminium. A blue rubber balloon tail, blue dial and matching strap create a monochromatic interpretation of the concept.

Its reference is 542.UB.5170.NR.JKN26, with the same 42mm diameter, 11mm thickness and 5 ATM water resistance as the red edition.

Silver

The third interpretation replaces colour with reflective metal. The 542.SX.0820.NR.JKN26 combines polished stainless steel with a rhodium-plated dial and grey accents.

Here, the mirror-like surface becomes particularly important. It echoes the reflective quality associated with Koons’ Balloon Dog sculptures while giving the watch a more restrained visual character.

All three versions are limited to 200 pieces.

The Horology Beneath the Sculpture

For all its artistic personality, the Balloon Dog remains a mechanical Hublot.

At its heart is the HUB1710 self-winding movement, with anthracite ruthenium-treated bridges and main plate. The movement incorporates a date display at 3 o’clock and a polished rhodium-plated oscillating weight designed with an inflated visual effect.

The technical specifications include:

  • Movement: Hublot HUB1710 automatic
  • Diameter: 25.6mm
  • Thickness: 3.7mm
  • Components: 185
  • Jewels: 27
  • Frequency: 4 Hz / 28,800 vibrations per hour
  • Power reserve: 50 hours
  • Date: 3 o’clock
  • Case diameter: 42mm
  • Water resistance: 50 metres

There is also an important technical point hidden beneath the playful exterior. The movement’s oscillating weight continues the visual language established by the case, creating a relationship between the mechanical heart of the watch and its external sculpture.

In other words, the Balloon Dog concept does not stop at the dial.

Where Art Meets Engineering

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the collaboration is the amount of engineering required to make something apparently simple look simple.

Hublot states that the components were reimagined, reshaped and refined, with 5-axis CNC machining used to create the distinctive puffed forms before the components were finished by hand.

That combination of industrial precision and hand finishing is particularly appropriate for a collaboration with Koons. His sculptures are famous for their apparently flawless surfaces, yet achieving that simplicity requires considerable control over materials, proportions and finishing.

The same principle applies here.

The watch is supposed to look effortless. Making it look effortless is the difficult part.

More Than a Limited-Edition Watch

Hublot has also extended the Balloon Dog idea beyond the wrist.

Each watch comes in packaging inspired by the sculpture, featuring a chromed Balloon Dog with a colour-matched finish. Its rubber-effect painted surface continues the tactile and playful character of the timepiece.

The watches are conceived, developed and assembled at Hublot’s Manufacture in Nyon. They are also covered by the brand’s evolved 5+5 warranty programme for eligible watches purchased from 1 January 2026, providing a five-year basic warranty with the possibility of a further five-year extension through the Hublotista programme.

The watches are priced at CHF 20,800 / EUR 24,600 / USD 25,100 / GBP 19,700 across the three editions.

The Hublot Approach to Contemporary Art

The collaboration also makes sense within Hublot’s broader history.

Since 1980, the brand has built much of its identity around the idea of “Art of Fusion”, beginning with its combination of a gold case and rubber strap. The Big Bang subsequently expanded that philosophy through its layered construction, while the Classic Fusion established a different balance between contemporary design and restraint.

The Balloon Dog takes that philosophy into another dimension, quite literally.

Here, Hublot is not merely fusing materials. It is fusing watchmaking and sculpture, mechanical precision and visual emotion, childhood familiarity and contemporary luxury.

That is what makes the collaboration particularly relevant.

Jeff Koons

Few artists have transformed popular culture into iconography as profoundly as Jeff Koons. For over forty years, he has redefined contemporary art by taking everyday objects and elevating them through scale, transformation of material, craftsmanship with great precision and care. Known for works such as Balloon Dog, Rabbit and Puppy, Koons turns the ordinary into the extraordinary, the ephemeral into the permanent and the playful into the monumental. Beneath the reflective surfaces and universally recognizable forms lies a discipline rooted in the experience of feelings and sensation and a commitment to realizing a vision through execution. Behind their playful appearance lies a profound connection to human experience and our communal history, along with a celebration of this moment in time. His work revolves around themes of self- acceptance, empowerment, and transcendence. Mirror-polished surfaces, industrial precision and attention to detail have become his signature, transforming ephemeral objects into timeless iconic symbols.

Final Thoughts

The Hublot Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons occupies an unusual space in modern watchmaking. It is recognisable as a Hublot, unmistakably connected to Koons, and yet neither identity completely dominates the other.

The familiar balloon animal has become a mechanical object. The Classic Fusion has been given curves, volume and a sense of movement that make it appear almost inflated. And beneath all that visual playfulness sits a serious automatic movement produced at Hublot’s Manufacture.

In a world where luxury watches can sometimes become exercises in adding more decoration, Hublot and Jeff Koons have taken a different route: they changed the shape of the idea itself.

And that may be the most interesting thing about this collaboration. Time has not simply been placed inside a work of art. It has been inflated into one.

Hublot Classic Fusion Yohji Yamamoto All Black Camo Redefines the Art of Black

Hublot and legendary brand Yohji Yamamoto unite once again to redefine the art of black. For the fourth time since their first collaboration in 2020, they elevate black from a color to the Classic Fusion Yohji Yamamoto All Black Camo. A limited edition of 300 pieces where every texture and contrast are intentional. Matte black ceramic sculpts the 42mm case into light and depth, a monochrome camouflage pattern adds rhythm and motion while fabric and rubber fuse seamlessly on the strap.

This collaboration is more than fashion or watchmaking. It’s about vision. About how far you can strip something down to its essence. Both Hublot and Yohji Yamamoto have built their legacies on the same foundation: questioning the meaning of luxury. Both create through deconstruction. Hublot first broke Swiss tradition in 1980 with its Art of Fusion, blending gold with rubber, innovation with heritage. Since its debut at the Paris Fashion Week in 1981, Yohji Yamamoto redefined the conventions of fashion, using black as a response against excess and fashion’s norms.

For both creators, black is not absence, it is essence. Hublot pioneered the All Black concept in 2006, where light is defined by volume and texture, beyond its color. When Yohji Yamamoto first presented the collection in Paris in 1981, the black silhouettes were seen as revolutionary, an anti-fashion statement that freed creation from decoration. At Hublot, black is sculpted through material: matte ceramics, smoked sapphire, surfaces that play with shadow. For Yohji Yamamoto, black is woven through fabric: wool, silk, cotton layered to breathe and shift. Both treat black as visible and invisible.

“For Yohji Yamamoto, black reveals what truly matters, it purifies form, letting silhouette and texture speak. At Hublot, we treat black as a living material, sculpted, layered, folded where each surface interacts differently with light. This project marks our very first collaboration on a Classic Fusion model, and together, we share the belief that luxury is not what shines, but what endures”, stated Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot.

Camouflage, reimagined in Yohji Yamamoto’s language, becomes a study in movement and material. On the Classic Fusion Yohji Yamamoto All Black Camo, the pattern appears as monochrome relief, black on black, dynamic under changing light.

“Black is modest and arrogant at the same time” affirmed Yohji Yamamoto.

The 42mm matte black ceramic case absorbs light and sculpts shadow. The black-on-black camouflage dial shifts subtly with movement, alive with contrast. The smoked sapphire caseback unveils the MHUB1110 Hublot automatic calibre and its skeletonized rotor while preserving a monochrome mystery. The strap, crafted from fabric and rubber, echoes the Japanese designer’s tactile couture and Hublot’s technical precision. The signature of Yohji Yamamoto is incorporated into the design of each of the 300 custom All Black boxes. The new Classic Fusion Yohji Yamamoto All Black Camo is available at a selection of Hublot points of sale and online at hublot.com.

HUBLOT

In 1980 and for the first time, a watch dared to put a gold case on a rubber strap, turning the luxury watch world upside down in the process. Named for the porthole-shaped bezel with its exposed screws, Hublot was born and with it, the Art of Fusion.

In 2005 the brand took this exercise in creative thinking to a new level with the Big Bang and its iconic design, size and layered construction case. That same year, Hublot received the Best Design award at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. Since then, spurred by this revolutionary mindset, the Big Bang has never stopped reinventing itself. The twenty-first century has its first watch Icon.

The concept of fusion is omnipresent, the guiding principle for every collection. Big Bang timepieces reshape the geometries of time; Classic Fusion balances boldness and restraint, while the Exceptional Timepieces overwrite expectations to create unprecedented horological objects. With its disruptive approach of challenging convention, Hublot’s DNA is transcribed in the Unico, Meca-10 and tourbillon in-house movements, to add another tier of meaning to the Art of Fusion.

Alchemy is ingrained into Hublot and not just at La Manufacture. Magic can take place on a football pitch, producing partnerships with major events (UEFA Champions League and UEFA EuroTM). Sometimes it happens at a concert, a basketball match, an artistic performance or at a unique gastronomic experience with Hublot’s family of starred Chefs. And so, the Hublot Vibes come to life, through shared moments of exaltation amongst the Hublotistas, its very own community of proud Hublot owners. The Art of Fusion goes beyond the tangible. It is a way of being, the Hublot way of life.

Yohji Yamamoto

Since his debut runway show in Paris in 1981, Yohji Yamamoto has been revolutionizing the fashion world through his philosophy of “conquering fashion through antithesis” – namely, an antithesis to traditional western clothing. Armed with a spirit of rebellion, he expresses his design philosophy though creating pieces that have endured the test of time, and which challenge taboos and propose radical convictions.

Hublot Marks 10 Years with UEFA Champions League: Classic Fusion Chronograph Titanium in Legendary Blue

This year, two legacies align. 70 years of the European Cup. 10 years of Hublot as Official Watch. Lift the moment. Wear the legend.

In football, timing is everything. Since 2015, Hublot has been the Official Watch of the UEFA Champions League, measuring greatness, second by second, goal by goal, glory by glory. To celebrate 10 years of unforgettable moments, Hublot introduces the Classic Fusion Chronograph UEFA Champions League Titanium, a limited-edition timepiece that kicks off the 2025/26 season in style, available in just 100 pieces. Dressed in legendary blue. Powered by the spirit of champions.

Since joining the UEFA Champions League stage in 2015, Hublot has timed over 800 matches, logging everything from the most spectacular goals to the most unforgettable comebacks. Every second counted.

Every memory captured. As the European Cup celebrates 70 years, from its roots in 1955 to becoming theworld’s most watched annual sporting event, Hublot is proud to have been part of the last decade. Together, we’ve shared the moments that live forever.

The Classic Fusion Chronograph UEFA Champions League Titanium is a collector’s item for true football aficionados. This 100-piece limited edition features a 42mm satin-finished and polished titanium case, a gradient blue dial and the UEFA Champions League logo applied on the 3 o’clock counter. The strap fuses black rubber with blue calf leather, proudly bearing the iconic UEFA Champions League starball emblem.

Because legends deserve more than a box, each watch is presented in a custom wooden case, complete with an official miniature UEFA Champions League trophy replica: the only one you don’t have to win to lift, but that makes you feel like a winner every time you wear the watch.

Hublot CEO, Julien Tornare stated: “Football isn’t just a game, it’s a feeling. From the roar of the crowd to the silence before a penalty, every beat matters. And this watch is built to beat with you. Football has the power to unite, inspire and move us. It’s hearts racing, nations watching, legends rising. At Hublot, we celebrate the joy of shared moments and the thrill of chasing greatness. That’s what drives us. Because we don’t just measure time, we celebrate it!”

The Classic Fusion Chronograph UEFA Champions League Titanium is available at Hublot boutiques worldwide and on Hublot.com.

BIG BANG 20TH ANNIVERSARY – A CELEBRATION OF THE BIG BANG REVOLUTIONARY MINDSET

In 2005 the Big Bang marked the advent of a new era in watchmaking, more closely attuned than ever to the privileges of its name. Few timepieces have transformed contemporary watchmaking like the Big Bang. Twenty years after its launch, it remains the incarnation of a Manufacture that constantly pushes the boundaries of the unknown. Through exclusive materials and in-house movements, led by the Unico and the Meca-10, the Big Bang breaks with tradition —a notion it has never completely embraced. Singular for its bold aesthetic, plural for its versatility, this is the Big Bang.

CLASSIC FUSION CHRONOGRAPH ARTURO FUENTE KING GOLD

Hublot celebrates the 25th Anniversary of OpusX with a special edition Classic Fusion Chronograph.

A shared drive towards uncompromising excellence and a passion for enjoying the finer things to enhance life’s most precious moments. At the Arturo Fuente Cigar Factory, where the Fuente family has been crafting some of the world’s most sought-after cigars since 1912, Hublot and Carlito Fuente unveiled their latest collaborative timepiece that celebrates the 25th anniversary of OpusX, regarded by cigar aficionados as one of the finest and most delectable cigars in the world. In what has become a tradition after 12 years of friendship, Carlito Fuente saw the watch for the first time, among journalists and friends of the brand at the Fuente Factory.

Over the last thirty years, Chateau de la Fuente, the beautiful estate where the Fuente Family cultivates tobacco leaves and handcrafts its coveted Fuente Fuente OpusX (FFOX) cigars, Carlito Fuente decided to build the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, a much needed school and health program, as well as an art academy, for the local community. With the foundations of the Art Academy, laid in 2019 and which Hublot was humbled to take part in, children receive the best education and support, while also developing and nurturing local artistic talents. The Art Academy, which has already been operational for a while, was officially inaugurated on the special occasion of OpusX’s 25th anniversary.

With a celebratory theme of gold and green, the 6th special edition series was created by Hublot and inspired by the invaluable vision of Carlito Fuente, the creator of the world renowned Fuente Fuente OpusX luxury brand.

And yet, the Classic Fusion Chronograph Arturo Fuente King Gold is starkly different from all other editions that have come before. It marks the first time that a Fuente is done in a 42mm Classic Fusion Chronograph case, and the first with both the case and bezel in King Gold. It also features a laser-engraved motif of tobacco leaves but only on the bezel.

The dial is done an a vibrant emerald green tone with a sunray-patterned finish and a gradient “fumé” effect that darkens towards the edges, adding contrast and depth. The anniversary version of the OpusX logo in gold and green is emblazoned on the constant seconds counter at 3 o’clock. The dial’s green tone is perfectly matched with the alligator leather and rubber strap’s tone.

Hidden from plain sight as a special treat reserved just for the owner, the Classic Fusion Chronograph Arturo Fuente King Gold edition features an elaborate case back. Made in solid 18k King Gold, the case back is engraved and lacquered with a special OpusX 25th Anniversary artwork. Beneath it beats the HUB1153 automatic chronograph calibre, with a power reserve of 48 hours.

Such a radiant piece celebrating a significant milestone for one of the most cherished names in the world of premium cigars deserves a special presentation. The Classic Fusion Chronograph Arturo Fuente King Gold comes in a grand, green lacquered watch box that doubles as a cigar humidor, designed in collaboration with Manny Iriarte, long time creative partner.

The Classic Fusion Chronograph Arturo Fuente King Gold edition is a limited edition of 50 pieces, available at Hublot boutiques and authorized retailers.

The honor and privilege of building such a wonderful relationship with Hublot, which I consider family, has been one of my greatest lifetime achievements. Over these many years of incredible success, we have been able to spread love all over the world!

CLASSIC FUSION ESSENTIAL GREY: Volume III

Hublot is writing the third chapter in the story of its Essential Grey. The 2024 release includes two Classic Fusion models in a radiant grey, available exclusively online.

Hublot is reprising its iconic Essential Grey collection. It is one of the Manufacture’s most popular vintages thanks to its exclusivity: a single model, a single colour, once a year, sold through a single channel.

More than an event, the arrival of the Essential Grey has come to define the Hublot year. Collectors are eagerly awaiting this moment – especially those who succeed in getting their hands on all the consecutive vintages, making up a complete set of pieces. These collectors are rare, but some managed to obtain first the Big Bang Unico Essential Grey, followed by the Spirit of Big Bang Essential Grey, and they are now looking forward to completing the hat-trick with the new Classic Fusion Essential Grey!

“The Essential Grey is one of our most eagerly awaited recurring series. It’s the kind of curve ball we like at Hublot: At a time when so many brands and studios are struggling to guess what the next colour trend will be, we have decided to keep this essential grey, unique and different, year after year, because we know it will be a timeless collector’s item. In fact, its success proves that it already is!”  -RICARDO GUADALUPE, HUBLOT CEO

This year, the decision to choose the Classic Fusion model was no coincidence. Alongside its most disruptive creations, Hublot likes to regularly highlight the importance of its founding models. This has recently led to the appearance of understated, streamlined ‘Time Only’ versions of the Big Bang. Essential Grey is part of this same dynamic: A reminder that Hublot, beyond its world of unbridled creativity, is first and foremost a leading watch manufacturer, the creator of numerous designs which, for more than 30 years, have been at the forefront of the watchmaking scene. Iconic, timeless watches that, even without bright colours and complications, remain monuments to design and elegance.

This is what defines the two Classic Fusion pieces in the 2024 Essential Grey vintage. Both come with 100% titanium cases and bezels, the first measuring 42 mm, the second 45 mm. Both feature all the hallmarks of a genuine Classic Fusion: integrated bracelet, satin-finished bezel with 6 functional screws with H-shaped head, exclusive textured rubber strap, and sunray finished dial with three central hands complemented by a discreet date window.

The most discerning customers will appreciate a subtlety that they may be the only ones to see: As the diameters of the two models differ by 3 mm (42 mm and 45 mm), Hublot has ensured that they are fitted with a calibre adapted to each volume (10.4 mm high for the first, 10.95 for the second). This refinement reflects the extreme attention to detail so dear to the hearts of watchmaking collectors.

The 42 mm Classic Fusion Essential Grey beats to the rhythm of the HUB1110 calibre, which is just 3.61 mm thick, while its 45 mm big brother is powered by the HUB1112 movement, measuring 4.26 mm. This “made- to-measure” choice shows respect for the design and engineering, which perfectly blends the forms and functions specific to each case. In the interests of fairness, however, each piece offers the same level of mechanical excellence, with a guaranteed power reserve of 42 hours.

HUBLOT

Hublot is a Swiss watch manufacturer founded in 1980 and based in Nyon. For its first ever timepiece, this fundamentally disruptive company combined gold with a rubber strap in a case with a design inspired by a ship’s porthole (hublot in French). Thus, the Art of Fusion was born, blending tradition, innovation, craftsmanship, worlds and talents. It became the brand’s aesthetic and technical signature.

This identity was strengthened in 2005 with the Big Bang, which attested to an unrivalled know-how in terms of complications, manufacture movements and state-of-the-art materials. Carbon, titanium, ceramic and sapphire have been developed on this model to technical extremes.

This ground-breaking, high-quality approach to watchmaking is summed up in its philosophy ‘Be First, Unique and Different.’ It gradually led to other collections with innovative designs: Classic Fusion, Shaped Collection (Spirit of Big Bang, Square Bang) and Manufacture Pieces. These draw on high levels of craftsmanship, both in terms of the materials so dear to Hublot (such as Magic Gold, brightly-coloured ceramics and sapphires) and its manufacture movements (Unico chronograph, Meca-10 and high complications such as the Tourbillon, the Cathedral Minute Repeater and the specific Manufacture Pieces movements).

Hublot’s world extends to powerful partnerships including football. ‘Hublot Loves Football’ has become the slogan at the world’s biggest sporting events (such as the FIFA World CupTM, Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA EUROTM) and through its ambassadors. This love of football continues in art, design, music, sport, fine dining and sailing. Lastly, Hublot’s implication in joint environmental projects with SORAI and Polar Pod reflects its concern for the issues of the day.

Over 135 Boutiques around the world share Hublot’s fervour and values, alongside the Hublot.com e-commerce site.

HUBLOT’s Innovations at LVMH WATCH WEEK 2024: A Tour of Masterful Timepieces and Artistic Collaborations

Hublot’s continued dedication to crafting timepieces that transcend the ordinary embodies the brand’s ‘Be First, Unique, and Different philosophy.’ Let us delve into the realm of horological excellence and artistic innovation as Hublot unveils a tapestry of masterful timepieces and captivating collaborations.

MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System

The Manufacture’s tenth MP revisits the fundamentals of watchmaking: no dial, hands or oscillating weight, instead a roller display, a circular power reserve and an inclined tourbillon automatic winding by two linear weights. The announcement of a new Manufacture Piece (MP) is always eagerly awaited at Hublot. This MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System Titanium will be no exception. The piece is immediately arresting. With its rounded angles, sleek design and sapphire crystal of an unparalleled complexity, it houses a movement which is no less sophisticated. A fusion of form and substance. The mechanical and aesthetic power are inseparable – one of the key concepts guiding the MP collections. And at the point where they intersect, the Manufacture offers a bold reinvention of the classic watchmaking complications. These are avant-garde pieces which are resolutely disruptive in their movement, display and complications. But they are neither concepts nor exercises in style. Like all the other MPs, the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System Titanium is a complete, accomplished and practical watch that will soon adorn the wrists of a select few collectors.

Big Bang Unico Saxem Green

Hublot unveils the second shade of its revolutionary material, SAXEM. Closely allied to sapphire, SAXEM is equally resistant, yet offers even more luminosity. With cousins, you can tell they come from the same family but they do have distinctive differences. The same can be said for sapphire and SAXEM, their connection is clear as they come from the same Hublot lineage. The Manufacture in Nyon is credited with bringing them both into the 21st century, to the point of establishing them as hallmark materials. Even so, their profiles are quite distinct. Sapphire is made of aluminium oxide, to which metallic oxides are added to provide colour. In contrast, SAXEM is coloured with rare earth elements. Sapphire has a trigonal (three-sided) structure, while SAXEM has a cubic (four-sided) form. Chemical details? Maybe, but ever since Hublot established itself as an integrated Manufacture, R&D has been the key focus of its operations. This was true when the Nyon Manufacture was inaugurated in 2009, and, 15 years later, remains so today. The new Big Bang Unico Green SAXEM is further proof

Spirit of Big Bang 32mm Jewellery

Watchmaking and jewellery collide to create an enchanting match . Master gemsetters have worked their magic on these six 32-mm cases, enveloping them in light or transforming them into rainbows. These pieces are crafted in King Gold – the Manufacture’s 18K gold alloy, warmer than 5N gold – or stainless steel. Hublot has channelled its avant-garde and unconventional approach to create these stunning variations with a feminine touch. With these fully-set Spirit of Big Bang Jewellery pieces, draped in their precious finery, time becomes incandescent. The slim design embodies a feminine spirit which enhances the brilliance of its setting. The character of the Big Bang is fused with the sophistication of the gemstones, transforming the Spirit of Big Bang into a sparkling piece of jewellery. The Spirit of Big Bang combines the Big Bang design and the brand’s unique expertise in a tonneau-shaped watch. The piece features six H-shaped titanium screws, the self-winding proprietary movement, the unique “sandwich” case construction which enables an unlimited number of combinations and materials, and comfortable interchangeable straps featuring a deployant buckle. These endless possibilities truly celebrate the art of fusion.

Classic Fusion Tourbillon Orlinski Ceramic

Pop colours, an edgy design, outstanding mechanics, a skeleton tourbillon and a five-day power reserve: Hublot’s new collaboration with the artist is all about fusion, without compromise. From the Classic Fusion Tourbillon Orlinski to his sculptures, Orlinski’s pieces never go unnoticed. The watch emerges from a work of art. Or perhaps it’s the other way around? Hublot’s ‘Art of Fusion’ has never been more exquisitely expressed than through the brand’s collaboration with Richard Orlinski. The world’s best-selling French artist and the most innovative watchmaker of the last 20 years were destined for one another. The first is radiantly sunny, with its case, strap, bezel, hands and index all dressed in yellow. Its ‘beating heart’ is still the manually wound HUB6021. This movement is a favourite among brand connoisseurs. Its components, such as the crown and the six H-shaped screws around the bezel, appear suspended in space by black PVD skeleton bridges. Between 8 and 9 o’clock, the power reserve indicates the five-day capacity. At 6 o’clock, the tourbillon keeps the time ticking on. Plus, thanks to sapphire crystal faces on the front and back, the Classic Fusion Tourbillon Orlinski always catches the light.

It is an honour to be collaborating with Hublot and to get the opportunity to showcase my take on Arabian heritage infused into luxury watchmaking. Inspired by my deeply rooted appreciation for our language and culture, it is a joyous experience to draw inspiration from various words & phrases and to design two exquisite timepieces. – WISSAM SHAWKAT

Paying homage to Arabian heritage, the two timepieces have been designed with sourced inspiration from deeply rooted passion for heritage and culture – drawing inspiration from various phrases and words from the Arabic language. Both timepieces feature exquisite calligraphy inside their dials, a true testament to the fusion of art with exceptional watchmaking. The calligraphy, meticulously created by the celebrated artist Wissam Shawkat, introduces vibrant and contrasting colors that beautifully complement the sleek black cases and dials. The calligraphy reads “Al Zaman” and “Al Waqt” – both words meaning time in Arabic – to symbolize the fusion between the watch brand, Arabian culture, and calligraphy. The rich, bright colours set against the black background create an eye-catching and distinctive aesthetic that embodies the spirit of Dubai.

The Classic Fusion Black Magic Dubai Watch Week sits in a 42-mm case with a matching Hublot black ceramic bezel featuring a unique twist in the dial. Highlighting Arabic calligraphy in rich bright orange, blue, green, and red, the mechanics of the HUB1110 self-winding movement and its 42-hour power reserve mark the time. The alligator strap with a black steel deployant buckle extenuates further the robust contrast between the flushed calligraphy and black ceramic. Encased is Wissam Shawkat’s stunning calligraphy, which weaves its way around the dial, reminiscent of the mesmerizing landscapes of Dubai’s dunes and urban skyline.

For those seeking a touch of opulence, the Classic Fusion Black Magic Diamonds Dubai Watch Week 38-mm elevates the experience with the addition of 36 black brilliant-cut diamonds set on the polished black anodized aluminium bezel. Wissam Shawkat’s calligraphy in this timepiece is a true work of art, with the sparkling diamonds accentuating every curve and stroke, showcasing the perfect synergy between horology and artistic expression.

These calligraphic timepieces are sure to strike their mark on Dubai Watch Week and on the wrist!

His teen summers were spent lettering for a local sign shop before he began studying for a degree in Civil Engineering at Basra University, graduating in 1996. The life as a Civil Engineer, though, was not Shawkat’s destiny and the point where his affinity for letterforms would wait no longer quickly came. In recent years, Shawkat has become known for a new calligraphic style, Al Wissam, which references several traditional scripts bringing them together with modern design.

He has received numerous prizes for his calligraphy and has participated as both an artist and committee member at multiple editions of the local and International Calligraphy Exhibitions.

He is based in Dubai, where he is engaged full-time as an artist, designer and Arabic typographer. His work is regularly featured in books on Arabic calligraphy and typography, His work is found in private collections, as well as museum collections around the world.

This ground-breaking, high-quality approach to watchmaking is summed up in its philosophy ‘Be First, Unique and Different.’ It gradually led to other collections with innovative designs: Classic Fusion, Spirit of Big Bang, Square Bang and Manufacture Pieces. These draw on high levels of craftsmanship, both in terms of the materials so dear to Hublot (such as Magic Gold, brightly-coloured ceramics and sapphires) and its manufacture movements (Unico chronograph, Meca-10 and large complications such as the Tourbillon, the Cathedral Minute Repeater and the specific Manufacture Pieces movements).

Almost 130 boutiques around the world share Hublot’s fervour and values, alongside the Hublot.com ecommerce site.

HUBLOT – A FUSION OF JEWELLER’S DESIGN AND CRAFTSMANSHIP

Hublot combines iconic design and craftsmanship with its Classic Fusion High Jewellery 2023 watch, a stunning piece of high jewellery with 431 dazzling baguette-cut diamonds.

The latest addition to Hublot’s High Jewellery collection of watches is a Classic Fusion High Jewellery 42 mm in white gold set with baguette-cut diamonds. It fits effortlessly into the brand’s High Jewellery collection alongside other iconic models such as the Big Bang, the Spirit of Big Bang and the Square Bang Unico, adorned with white gold, diamonds and even rainbow-coloured gemstones. The Classic Fusion High Jewellery 42mm combines iconic design with the most remarkable gem-setting techniques. This Classic Fusion, embellished with baguette-cut diamonds and enhanced with sleek lines of white gold, has become a true Hublot icon. An exceptional accolade for a timeless watch.

The highest form of sophistication is simplicity, so Hublot has chosen to go back to basics and to the very shape that epitomised its creation in 1980. The result is now one that offers an acclaimed expression of high jewellery, accentuating the timeless purity of the Classic Fusion model. What a stunning piece! Master gem-setters have brought this new Classic Fusion High Jewellery 2023 to life with no fewer than 431 baguette-cut diamonds—around 14.6 carats in total. These gemstones adorn the watch’s case, bezel, dial and clasp. On the dial alone, it took 120 hours of painstaking, meticulous work to set the 241 baguette-cut diamonds. That’s almost three weeks of full-time work! Then came the task of setting the 60 additional diamonds around the bezel.

The 42-mm case is set with 94 baguette-cut diamonds and contains the HUB1710 calibre, which is visible from the back of the watch through the sapphire glass. The self-winding movement oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz (or 28,800 alterations per hour), offering a power reserve of no fewer than 50 hours.

Of course, watchmaking of this quality must be perfect in every detail: even the black rubber-lined alligator strap features a deployant buckle adorned with 36 baguette-cut diamonds.

All in all, it takes over 200 hours to set all the 431 diamonds that grace this exceptional piece of high jewellery, the perfect fusion of watchmaking excellence and jewellery artisanship.

“This wonderfully radiant piece celebrates and icon of the maison. The jeweller’s artistic creativity and our watchmaking expertise intertwine to create a work of art that is both a watch and a jewel!” – RICARDO GUADALUPE, HUBLOT CEO

These 324 NFTs were originally offered to owners of one of the two Hublot x Takashi Murakami watch models (Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black & Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow), before they were allowed to be exchanged on the decentralized NFT trading platform, OpenSea. The period between the announcement of the project in New York in February 2023 and the start of sales in early April 2023 in Geneva will allow any collector interested in one of the new watches to collect one of the NFTs available on OpenSea. Each buyer lucky enough to purchase one of the 12 new unique watches will receive a corresponding exclusive NFT.

Hublot and Takashi Murakami take the watch as a work of art to a new level, by bridging the art of fine watchmaking with digital art. The 13th watch of the collection, unveiled in New York, is the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow and it is also the masterpiece. Taking inspiration from the two previously launched pieces, this watch reinterprets t he iconic emblem of Takashi Murakami: the smiling flower. Here, the 12 petals of the flower form a perfect gradient of rubies, sapphires, amethysts, tsavorites and topaz. Thanks to an ingenious ball bearing system developed by Hublot’s engineers the petals create a dizzying spectacle of colour as the y spin on an axis with each movement. The kinetic effect of the petals creates a striking effect against the 45mm black ceramic case. The center of the smiling flower is placed on top of the sapphire glass to create a three-dimensional effect.

The twelve other references, which will be available for purchase by holders of the NFTs on the dedicated ecommerce platform, recall the master flower and represent one of the petals. Twelve references for twelve hours on the dial, and twelve NFTs. The heart of the watch beats with the manufacture Unico calibre set in the emblematic Classic Fusion design a unique movement that offers a 72 hour power reserve. As the third watch collaboration between Hublot and the Japanese artist, this launch is proof of the incredible collectability of this partnership.

As the second step, collectors will then have a period of one year during which they will have the opportunity to trade the twelve NFTs on the OpenSea platform. In April 202 4 at the end of this period, only the collector who has managed to collect all 12 of the new unique NFTs will be eligible to purchase the thirteenth and most sought after watch: the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow In the event that no single person has managed to gather all twelve NFTs the watch will be auctioned by Hublot to raise funds for charity.
