TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12: The V12-Inspired Limited Edition Monaco

The TAG Heuer Monaco has always stood apart from conventional watchmaking. Since its debut in 1969, the square-cased icon has symbolized bold design, technical innovation, and an enduring connection to motorsport. In 2026, TAG Heuer pushes that legacy into entirely new territory with the TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12, a limited-edition masterpiece that transforms the spectacle of a 12-cylinder engine into a mechanical work of art.

Unveiled during the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026, the Monaco Speed 12 is more than a watch. It is a kinetic tribute to speed, engineering, and the adrenaline-fueled world of racing that has defined TAG Heuer for generations.

A New Chapter for the Monaco Collection

Few watches have achieved the legendary status of the Monaco. Introduced in 1969, it became the world’s first square, water-resistant chronograph and one of the first automatic chronographs powered by the revolutionary Calibre 11. Its unconventional design, combined with its association with motorsport and Steve McQueen, secured its place among the most recognizable watches ever created.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12 takes that pioneering spirit and reinterprets it through an entirely new mechanical display. Rather than relying on traditional hour markers, the watch uses twelve rotating pistons positioned around the dial to indicate the hours, creating a visual experience inspired directly by the firing sequence of a high-performance V12 engine.

Inspired by the Heartbeat of a V12 Engine

At first glance, the Monaco Speed 12 looks unlike any Monaco before it. Surrounding the dial are twelve rhodium-plated piston-shaped hour indicators, each finished with sandblasted surfaces, satin-brushed detailing, and black lacquered Arabic numerals.

As the central minute hand completes a full rotation every sixty minutes, one piston returns to its resting position while the next rotates precisely 90 degrees to reveal the current hour. The result is a dynamic jumping-hour style display that mimics the rhythm and motion of a twelve-cylinder engine firing sequence.

This mechanical choreography creates a constantly evolving dial that feels alive, delivering an experience that is as captivating as it is technically impressive.

Powered by the Calibre TH84-00

Driving this extraordinary display is the automatic Calibre TH84-00, developed and produced by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. The movement is based on the renowned Spin Time concept originally developed by master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini and has been reinterpreted exclusively for TAG Heuer’s latest creation.

The collaboration brings together TAG Heuer’s motorsport heritage and La Fabrique du Temps’ expertise in complex mechanical movements, resulting in a timepiece that blurs the boundaries between engineering, art, and horology.

A Monaco Designed for the Future

The 40mm case is crafted from lightweight Grade 5 titanium, featuring a combination of fine-brushed and polished surfaces that enhance its architectural shape. Maintaining the Monaco’s signature square profile, the case houses a round movement suspended by four black PVD-coated open-worked arches positioned at each corner.

The watch is topped by a beveled domed sapphire crystal and a sapphire bezel that maximizes visibility of the rotating pistons from virtually every angle. A sapphire caseback reveals the intricate mechanics of the Calibre TH84-00, further emphasizing the watch’s technical sophistication.

With a water resistance of 30 meters, the Monaco Speed 12 remains focused on mechanical artistry rather than everyday sports-watch practicality. Its mission is clear: to showcase innovation and visual spectacle at the highest level.

An Open-Worked Dial Inspired by Supercar Engineering

The dial continues the automotive theme with remarkable attention to detail. The rhodium-plated central section features vertical grooves reminiscent of high-performance engine covers, while the open-worked construction exposes the complex mechanics beneath.

A black opaline minute ring with a white printed minute track surrounds the display, punctuated by red lacquered square indexes that reinforce the racing-inspired aesthetic. The skeletonized minute hand, finished with a red lacquered tip, recalls the instrumentation found inside modern supercars.

Every component contributes to the impression that the wearer is looking under the hood of a finely tuned racing machine.

Motorsport DNA in Every Detail

TAG Heuer’s connection to racing runs deep, from its historical association with Steve McQueen and Le Mans to its current role as Official Timekeeper of Formula 1 and its partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing. The Monaco Speed 12 celebrates this heritage by translating the mechanics of a race engine into a horological complication unlike anything else on the market.

The watch captures the emotion, precision, and relentless pursuit of performance that define both elite motorsport and fine watchmaking.

Limited to Just 50 Pieces

Exclusivity is central to the Monaco Speed 12’s appeal. TAG Heuer will produce only 50 individually numbered examples worldwide, making it one of the most exclusive Monaco models ever released.

Each watch is paired with a black rubber strap featuring textile embossing and red hand-stitching, secured by a Grade 5 titanium folding clasp with double safety push-buttons.

Available from December 2026, the Monaco Speed 12 carries an estimated retail price of CHF 70,000, EUR 77,000, GBP 66,000, and USD 87,000, positioning it firmly within the realm of collectible haute horlogerie.

Final Thoughts

The TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12 is not simply another limited-edition Monaco. It represents one of the most inventive interpretations of motorsport-inspired watchmaking seen in recent years. By transforming the operation of a V12 engine into a mechanical time display, TAG Heuer has created a watch that is both technically fascinating and visually unforgettable.

For collectors seeking something beyond conventional complications, the Monaco Speed 12 offers a rare combination of innovation, exclusivity, and authentic racing heritage. It is a bold demonstration of how the Monaco continues to evolve while remaining true to the disruptive spirit that made it an icon more than half a century ago.

TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph

At the intersection of audacity and mastery, Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer introduces a new release of its TAG Heuer Monaco Split- Seconds Chronograph. This 2025 edition reveals a new expression of material innovation: it is presented in a visually striking form of titanium, for which the process has been entirely developed in-house. This texturized titanium, named TH-Titanium, brings a new visual identity that feels elemental, singular, almost alive.

The Shape of Innovation

Since its inception in 1969, the TAG Heuer Monaco has been a symbol of contrarian design. With its distinctive square shape, left crown and signature blue dial, the TAG Heuer Monaco shattered conventions in the watchmaking world. Notably, it became the first water-resistant and automatic square chronograph wristwatch, further solidifying its status as an icon. Ahead of its time with its avant-garde aesthetics, it found admiration among creative visionaries like Sammy Davis Jr., Stanley Kubrick, and Steve McQueen.

Splitting the Seconds

Meanwhile, the rich legacy of TAG Heuer’s split-seconds chronograph watches dates back over a century. From the early 1900s, the Maison has dedicated itself to mastering this significant horological complication, evident in various references of stopwatches and dashboard timers.

A pivotal moment came in 1916 with the creation of the Mikrosplit, a stopwatch capable of recording separate intervals to 1/100th of a second. This landmark achievement laid the foundation for TAG Heuer’s legacy in high-performance timekeeping, from Olympic Games stopwatches in the early 20th century to dashboard timers used in motorsport. Over the decades, the drive for precision naturally led to the development of other split-seconds timepieces, a complication that exemplifies the Maison’s technical mastery and competitive spirit.

In the 1960s, Heuer stopwatches became a staple in motorsport paddocks, like the memorable reference 11.402 that featured a split-seconds chronograph capable of measuring time with 1/10th of a second accuracy. Used by Jean Campiche, a Heuer timekeeper working with Scuderia Ferrari, this model became iconic. In 1989, TAG Heuer introduced a quartz split-seconds chronograph wristwatch, gaining immense popularity, especially among racing legends like Ayrton Senna, Gerhard Berger and Michael Schumacher.

In 2024, TAG Heuer brought this complication back and expanded the TAG Heuer Monaco collection with the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph in original blue and racing red, two interpretations that set the stage for this year’s latest evolution, where craftsmanship meets a radical new approach to material design.

The Depth of Movement

Crafted entirely in titanium for exceptional lightness and framed in sapphire to expose its movement’s architectural depth, the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph is driven by the Calibre TH81-00, developed in partnership with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier and also crafted in titanium, weighing only 30 grams.

The split-seconds function, also called “rattrapante” in French, is a highly sophisticated and intricate mechanism that requires the most expert of watchmakers due to its complexity. It is capable of measuring two separate time intervals concurrently, providing a level of functionality that exceeds that of a regular chronograph. Whether timing laps on the racetrack or tracking multiple sporting events, the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph offers unparalleled accuracy and versatility in its usage.

This movement contributes to the watch’s exceptional weight: a mere 86 grams in total, including strap and buckle.

The Birth of TH-Titanium

What further elevates this new timepiece is its case, sculpted from a new form of titanium that transforms the essence of the metal itself. Developed over four years, this innovative take on titanium marks a significant material breakthrough. This project was led by the TAG Heuer Lab, the Maison’s in-house R&D institute based in La Chaux-de- Fonds. Led by a team of experts and scientists specialized in a wide range of disciplines and benefiting from state-of- the-art equipment, the TAG Heuer Lab is driven by innovation, always pushing the boundaries of watchmaking.

Using a proprietary thermal process, the metal is transformed at an atomic level to reveal its hidden structure. The result is a natural, irregular pattern that shifts with light. The pattern on each case is therefore entirely unique, shaped by the intrinsic structure of the metal rather than the human hand.

The metal used to craft TH-Titanium is a specific type of titanium alloy, known for its strength, corrosion resistance, and ability to retain energy. This form of titanium is typically reserved for aerospace components, turbine elements, and high-performance automotive parts.

To create this one-of-a-kind faceted effect on the metal’s surface, the TAG Heuer Lab has developed a series of specially designed thermal treatments, reorganizing the alloy’s atomic structure. Through this process, the unique visual identity of TH-titanium is revealed, refined, and preserved. What appears on the case is the alloy’s own character, captured at a moment of transformation, and secured for lasting performance.

Precision Exposed

To match the depth and dimensionality of the new case, the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph retains its remarkable sapphire bezel and dial. This transparency deliberately invites to observe the interplay between form and function.

Beneath the dial, the black opaline chronograph counters create a striking contrast, while the rattrapante hand is finished in a vibrant lime green. That same lime hue appears on the titanium rattrapante pusher and the counters’ hands, guaranteeing maximum legibility and drawing a subtle but unmistakable connection to the world of racing, where these tones are often used to signal speed and performance. The balance struck between the darkened bridges and hand-made polished bevels, the shadow and the shine, underlines the sense of mechanical drama.

Adding to this effect, the caseback is crafted entirely in sapphire crystal, offering unobstructed views of the Calibre TH81-00. The oscillating weight, shaped in the signature TAG Heuer shield, appears to hover within the movement, enhancing the sense of depth and lightness. Perfectly symmetrical, it is hand-finished with fine brushing that highlights its contours. The hand-engraved checkered flag pattern, a TAG Heuer signature finish, adds a layer of detail, reinforcing the visual complexity of the watch’s inner mechanics.

Hand-painted stripes bring a distinct graphic identity to the timepiece, as a subtle nod to racing liveries. The adjacent balance wheel bridge is finely brushed with polished bevels, carefully finished by hand, continuing the watch’s quiet dialogue between technical precision and expert craftsmanship.

Each individually numbered on the oscillating weight, these timepieces are accompanied by a hand-stitched black calfskin strap with a textile pattern, secured with a titanium clasp.

The finished result of the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph reflects TAG Heuer’s avant-garde DNA, and the brand’s refusal to accept matter as static, reimagining it instead as alive, reactive, and expressive.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph stands as a clear expression of what happens when vision and innovation are allowed to lead.

TAG HEUER BECOMES FIRST EVER TITLE PARTNER OF THE GRAND PRIX DE MONACO

For the first time in the nearly 100-year history of the Grand Prix de Monaco, 2025 will witness the first time the race will have a title partner, with TAG Heuer proud to hold this special honour. In the 75th year of Formula 1, and as TAG Heuer returns as Official Timekeeper for the sport, it further reinforces the incredible connection between the famed Swiss watchmaker, the top-tier of motor racing and one of the most famous races on the calendar.

With a shared story interwoven across decades, Monaco and TAG Heuer are connected not only by the world of motorsport, but also the famed TAG Heuer Monaco collection and personalities that have made the race so famous. Monte-Carlo is referred to as the spiritual home of TAG Heuer, and the contemporary story is defined by the strong presence during F1 weekend, making it only natural for the race to now be known as the Formula 1 TAG Heuer Grand Prix de Monaco.

A Second Home

While the traditional watches of TAG Heuer are made in Switzerland, the company has become a cultural force taking on a global identity. With boutiques located around the world, ambassadors and advertising campaigns that can be seen in every city, and the presence in different sports across continents, there is only one place that the brand has a special connection to, Monaco.

Since the presence of drivers such as Jochen Rindt, Jo Siffert, Niki Lauda and Ronnie Peterson in the 1960s and 1970s who would become style icons and wore Heuer chronographs around the track, to the incredible rivalries and victories of Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna of the 1980s and 1990s who would dominate in Monaco at the wheel of TAG Heuer sponsored McLaren’s, TAG Heuer’s connection to the circuit on the Côte d’Azur is undeniable.

The late 1990s and 2000s would see Mika Häkkinen, David Coulthard, Kimi Räikkönen, and Lewis Hamilton victorious on the streets of Monaco all with TAG Heuer on their wrist as they took the top step of the podium. In recent years Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez have won against strong competition with TAG Heuer alongside them through the sponsorship of Oracle Red Bull Racing.

Elevating a Partnership

TAG Heuer has been a partner of the Automobile Club de Monaco since 2011, present at key moments through the Formula 1 weekend and at the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique. With this new relationship the story will be further reinforced through increased presence for TAG Heuer across all assets relating to the race, including significant trackside placement visible for those at the race on the streets of Monaco and on screens around the world.

A special logo has been created to celebrate this key moment in motorsport history and will be used across all touchpoints where TAG Heuer will be present. Another key element will be the iconic TAG Heuer Monaco clocks that will be displayed throughout the paddock, a new fixture for Formula 1 in 2025.

Beyond the Formula 1 race, TAG Heuer is excited to be continuing its connection to the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique as Official Timekeeper, with the next event taking place in 2026. As a new addition this year, TAG Heuer is also the partner of the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique and this will continue as part of the multi-year deal with the Automobile Club de Monaco

“It has been a pleasure to work with such a celebrated watchmaker for nearly 15 years now, and our admiration and respect for TAG Heuer is reiterated through our new agreement to continue our wonderful relationship. As the watch synonymous with motorsport and the greatest drivers in the history of Formula 1, it is only natural that the Automobile Club de Monaco would choose to be indelibly connected with TAG Heuer.”, Maître Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club de Monaco.

“Monaco is truly our spiritual home, encapsulated much of what we stand for at TAG Heuer” said Antoine Pin, CEO of TAG Heuer. “The spirit of competition, the challenging street course that rewards those who show the greatest mental resilience and physical strength, a place where drivers push themselves to achieve their absolute best, we are honoured and delighted to renew our partnership with the Automobile Club de Monaco and extend our activities in the Principality with TAG Heuer being the first to hold this prestigious title.”

TAG HEUER ENTERS ITS NEW RACING CHAPTER WITH THE TAG HEUER MONACO CHRONOGRAPH RACING GREEN

The Swiss luxury watchmaker is pleased to introduce the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green, a continuous representation of the racing heritage of TAG Heuer, and a second chapter in the Racing Monaco story. The new TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green joins the TAG Heuer Monaco collection as a celebration of the racing cars and their iconic liveries, this time honoring the British colors.

The Racing Spirit of the TAG Heuer Monaco

TAG Heuer has always been among the timekeepers most closely associated with racing, and the TAG Heuer Monaco collection is an embodiment of this ideal. When the brand introduced the model in 1969, it revolutionized the watchmaking industry. Unlike any other watch on the market, the timepiece featured the first square-cased water-resistant chronograph which housed the revolutionary Calibre 11 movement. More than a bold design statement – the TAG Heuer Monaco was named after the legendary principality that hosts one of Formula 1’s most renowned races. This relationship has held a special place in the brand’s heart and history and remains a significant aspect of TAG Heuer’s identity to this day.

To many, the TAG Heuer Monaco will always be associated with one of the greatest actors of his generation, Steve McQueen. In 1970, while filming the movie Le Mans, the Hollywood superstar chose to wear the same racing suit and watch brand as professional driver and personal trainer, Jo Siffert. By doing so, McQueen aimed to embody the role of an authentic racing driver, and quickly became a style icon in his own right, proudly sporting a Heuer Monaco timepiece.

Over the years, the TAG Heuer Monaco has continued to evolve, incorporating new materials, technologies, and design elements that make it a true work of art, swiftly becoming a symbol of the brand’s avant-garde spirit. This latest version, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green, is no exception, as it continues to pay homage to the incredible racing heritage and the indelible mark that the Maison has left on the discipline following its Racing Blue peer from 2023.

Racing’s Best Companion

With its iconic TAG Heuer Monaco, the brand has continuously been drawing a line through decades of history connecting the Maison to the world of motorsport. From the early 20th century to the 1960s, racing drivers competed with car liveries specific to their country, rather than to the manufacturer or sponsors. Each country had its own dedicated color: the vibrant Italian red, Germany’s initial use of white before transitioning to silver, and the unmistakable shade of blue associated with the French, featured last year on the Monaco Chronograph Racing Blue. For this new chapter, it is the renowned British racing green that serves as the inspiration for the brand’s latest creation, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green.

Racing green, a recognizable shade associated with British motorsports, has a storied history. The first noted car in this color palette was a Napier 50 that won the 1902 Gordon Bennett Cup under Selwyn Edge, leading to the 1903 event being hosted by Great Britain. Modern British racing teams and distinguished car manufacturers continue to use variations of this shade, making it a celebrated color in the world of motorsports and the inspiration for this year’s timepiece.

Every element of the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green is inspired by historical British racing cars and their white and yellow touches. To echo this theme, the watch boasts a silver sunray-brushed dial for a timeless and elegant look, a subtle reminder of the engine-turned dashboards seen in sports cars of the 1920’s and 1930’s.

The dial is adorned with eight applied, polished and silvered hour markers as well as 12 light green Super- LumiNova® dot markers, facilitating effortless time reading. Notably, a faceted baton marker at 12 o’clock features a vibrant yellow stripe, serving as a direct connection to the chronograph’s yellow central hand and the touches of yellow on these celebrated race cars.

The elegant green subdials feature a vibrant yet sophisticated shade and honor the traditional racing green.

Heritage is also inherent to the watch which features the historic Heuer logo, set to appeal to collectors and watch aficionados alike. In true Monaco DNA, the crown is placed at 9 o’clock, as it was initiated in 1969.

The watch is powered by the automatic chronograph Calibre 11, encased within a sandblasted grade-2 titanium case, allowing for both robustness and lightness, perfect for a sporty feel, and featuring a sapphire caseback, offering a glimpse into the movement inside.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green is fitted with a green perforated strap, for classic British gentleman aesthetics. The strap is secured with a titanium folding clasp, featuring the Heuer logo.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Green is a limited edition, its caseback bearing the engraving “ONE OF 1000”. It is presented in a custom- designed black packaging with vivid yellow details.

The perfect watch for the perfect gentleman driver.
