The self-winding Manufacture movement, calibre 1088/1 with a 40- hour power reserve displays hours, minutes and central seconds, as well as the date in an aperture Vacheron Constantin opens a new chapter for the Overseas selfwinding 35 mm model, introducing two high-jewellery versions for the first time, in 18K white gold and in 18K 5N pink gold, powered by the Manufacture movement, calibre 1088/1. Originally created in 2023, the 35 mm Overseas case was conceived as a timepiece to suit all discerning wrists in any situation. Its more streamlined dimensions make it intrinsically comfortable to wear, while retaining all of the aesthetic codes and inherent functionality of its larger Overseas counterparts.

The dazzling craft of gem-setting

Vacheron Constantin has been on a quest for excellence in the art of gem-setting since the 19th century, when it added the craft to its repertoire of métiers d’art. At that time, timepieces were not only confined to a waistcoat pocket but were also worn as jewellery and fashion accessories. The new Overseas Self-Winding 35 mm

High Jewellery watch is adorned with a total of 1,430 diamonds (~12.58 cts) and combines two cuts: brilliant and baguette.
The Maltese cross motif on the bezel – a signature of the Overseas collection, inspired by Vacheron Constantin’s emblem – is highlighted by the radiance of 60 invisibly set baguette-cut diamonds (~ 2.28 cts). Invisible setting is particularly challenging for the gem-setter as it creates a seamlessly gem-covered surface on which the stones appear to float above the gold surface with no visible means of support. First, the gem-setter creates a framework of gold rails, only 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm thick, which forms a secure grid structure that remains hidden once the gemstones are slotted into it. After creating the frame, the artisan must cut a tiny V-shaped groove along both sides of each diamond, to match the position and dimensions of the rails with a tolerance of only 0.02 millimetres, thus ensuring that the stones sit flush, with no gaps, overlaps or visible metal. This setting technique is so meticulous that it can take several hours for just one stone.

The serene beauty of the invisibly set baguette stones contrasts with the multifaceted sparkle of brilliant-cut diamonds on the dial and 18K gold bracelet. The dial is elegant and functional, displaying only the essentials of time and date, in order to maximise the visual impact of the snow-set diamond background – comprising 314 brilliant-cut diamonds (~ 1.65 ct). Combining artistry and precision, snow setting is another highly demanding technique, in which the gemsetter covers the entire surface of the gold dial base in diamonds of varying diameter, set in an order that appears to be random. In fact, the placement of every stone must be meticulously judged, to leave an absolute minimum of metal between the stones so that the entire surface refracts and reflects the light, like the effect of the sun on a sparkling field of snowflakes. Against this glittering backdrop, 12 baguettecut diamonds serve as hour markers. The lugs and 18K gold bracelet are also snow-set, with a total of 884 brilliant-cut diamonds (~ 6.95 cts), with each link of the bracelet set separately before being carefully assembled.

One watch, three styles

Introduced to the Overseas collection in 2023, the 35 mm diameter case is designed not only to correspond with a modern aesthetic, but also to be suitable for any situation and comfortably worn by everyone regardless of wrist size. Its versatility is underlined by the easy interchangeability of its diamond-set gold bracelet and two straps that are delivered with the watch: one in white rubber and one in shiny alligator leather. Adding a vivid splash of colour to the otherwise monochrome palette of the watch, the white gold model comes with a brilliant blue alligator-skin strap, while the pink gold model is delivered with a fuchsia-coloured alligator-skin strap. Each is secured with an 18K white gold or 18K 5N pink gold pin buckle to match the case metal; set with 62 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0.33 ct), the buckle may also be interchanged to fit another strap of the owner’s choice. As with all Overseas models, the owner needs no tool to easily and quickly change the bracelet, straps or buckle at will. Echoing the Maltese Cross motif found on the bezel the bracelets are outfitted with the easy-fit system inherent to the Overseas collection since 2016, a hidden micro-adjustment that provides the wearer with flawless comfort.

Vacheron Constantin’s self-winding calibre 1088/1

Calibre 1088/1 sets the pace for the Overseas SelfWinding High Jewellery, driving the hours, minutes, central seconds and date in an aperture. The central seconds is also outfitted with a stop-seconds function, ensuring to-the-second accuracy when setting the time. The 144-component automatic movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz and is equipped with a 40-hour power reserve. Visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case back, the movement is very finely finished and features visible Côtes de Genève decoration and bevelled bridges, as well as the Overseas collection’s emblematic 22K gold rotor adorned with a compass rose.

TUDOR ROYAL IS “BORN TO DARE”

Since its founding in 1926, TUDOR has endeavoured to produce the best possible watches at the best possible price. This mission, bold then as it is now, is inspired by the vision of the brand’s founder Hans Wilsdorf. The inventor of several cornerstones of modern fine watchmaking – wristwatch precision, waterproofness and the self-winding mechanism – Wilsdorf dreamed of devising a watch that was technically perfect while remaining affordable, and so created the TUDOR brand to bring his dream alive. The TUDOR Royal range forms part of this uncompromising heritage, promising its future owner no less than the best possible quality at the best possible price. Made in Switzerland from a block of one of the most robust stainless steels in existence, 316L steel, the case of the TUDOR Royal models is waterproof in all circumstances and to 100 metres (330 feet) below sea level thanks to its screw-down crown and caseback. The movement – the pinnacle of Swiss watchmaking expertise – is finely decorated despite not being visible and is adjusted to the highest chronometry standards in the watchmaking industry. Finally, the smooth and seamless five-link metal bracelet stands out thanks to the quality of its design, manufacturing and finish. All these things and more come together to produce the famous TUDOR quality, a philosophy summarised by the brand’s signature, “Born To Dare” – always striving to do better.

SPORT-CHIC WATCH WITH INTEGRATED BRACELET

The TUDOR Royal range is the ultimate in balance, elegance and versatility. With its integrated metal bracelet ensuring an uninterrupted line with the case, TUDOR Royal embodies fluidity and unmistakable style. Characterised by its three wide satin-brushed links set between two slimmer polished elements, the smooth quality of its surfaces and edges emphasises the importance that TUDOR places on ensuring its comfort on the wrist. Available in stainless steel or with alternating links in stainless steel and yellow gold, the meticulous finishes of the models in this range cater to every taste.

THE TUDOR MANUFACTURE

Every TUDOR watch is assembled and fully tested to TUDOR’s superior standards at the new TUDOR Manufacture located in Le Locle, Switzerland. This new state-of-the-art facility, bringing together the know-how of watchmakers with the best in production management and automated testing systems, was completed in 2021 after three years of construction. All decked out in TUDOR red, the Manufacture spans over four levels totalling 5,500 square meters and is physically and visually connected to the neighbouring Kenissi Manufacture, the TUDOR movement production facility founded in 2016. With Kenissi and a network of TUDOR-owned affiliates, the brand has been able to integrate the development and production of high-performance mechanical calibres. As a consequence, TUDOR now fully masters the manufacturing of strategic components and can guarantee their quality.

THE TUDOR GUARANTEE

Since its creation by Hans Wilsdorf in 1926, and in line with his vision of an ideal watchmaking product, TUDOR has never stopped producing the most robust, durable, reliable and precise watches in existence today. Bolstered by this experience, and confident in the knowledge of the superior quality of its watches, TUDOR offers a five-year guarantee on all its products. This guarantee does not require the watch to be registered or any periodic maintenance checks to be performed and is transferable should the watch change ownership during coverage. TUDOR also recommends that its watches should be serviced approximately every 10 years depending on the model and the extent of its use on a day-to-day basis.

TUDOR IS “BORN TO DARE”

In 2017, TUDOR launched a new campaign with the “Born To Dare” signature. It reflects both the history of the brand and what it stands for today. It tells the adventures of individuals who have achieved the extraordinary on land, on ice, in the air and underwater, with a TUDOR watch on their wrists. It also refers to the vision of Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of TUDOR, who manufactured TUDOR watches to withstand the most extreme conditions, watches made for the most daring lifestyles. It is testimony to TUDOR’s singular approach to watchmaking, which has made it what it is today. At the cutting edge of the watchmaking industry, its innovations are now essential benchmarks. The TUDOR “Born To Dare” spirit is supported throughout the world by first class ambassadors, whose achievements result directly from a daring approach to life.

Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar

Montblanc captures the elegant, artistic spirit of la femme bohème in every detail of its new Perpetual Calendar timepiece.

In Montblanc’s storied manufactures in Le Locle and Villeret, master watchmakers and artisans bring together traditional Swiss horology with modern decorative techniques to create the new 36mm Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar. From the printed watercolour moon phase disc, to the machine-stamped “star trail” (filé d’étoiles) outer dial, and the highly technical field of micro-diamonds that forms the inner dial, the Bohème Perpetual Calendar represents Montblanc’s dedication to both traditional handcrafts and state-of-the-art material processes that define Swiss watchmaking in the 21st century.

An Elegantly Feminine Visage

The fully mechanical perpetual calendar complication is presented in a flattering 36mm case in either solid rose gold 750/1000 (18 karats) or in a striking bi-metal construction combining stainless steel and rose gold 750/1000 (18 karats). The size has been selected to suit women’s wrists while also offering the appropriate proportions for the perpetual calendar’s various functions to express themselves on the complex, yet very legible dial.

Bringing form and function together like this requires for Montblanc’s designers to carefully place each mechanical function on the dial in order to achieve visual harmony. Discerning collectors will note the thoughtful placement of the four sub dials, as well as the way they gently overlap the outer hour track, a small intrusion that subtly transforms this typically technical and masculine dial configuration into an organic and feminine visage.

Diamonds Like a Night Sky

The four sub dials, indicating the day, date, month, leap year cycle and phases of the moon, float in a dazzling field formed from thousands of micro-diamonds. Rather than using traditional “diamond powder”, Montblanc has elected to deploy a highly technical process by which the tiny diamonds are set side-by-side to create a uniform surface that is then covered with a bright metallic PVD coating. The result is a completely flat, sparkling, dark grey surface. Reminiscent of the countless stars in the night sky, this treatment creates the backdrop for this perpetual calendar complication that tracks the elaborate movements of our solar system with precision.

A Trail of Stars to Tell the Time

Around that inner dial is the white-silver hour track. This is created using a specific stamping method to create a pattern called filé d’étoiles – trail of stars. The pattern was inspired by long-exposure photographs of the night sky, often called Astro photographs, that reveal the stars as streaks of light. The stars, of course, aren’t moving; rather, these stunning photographs document the Earth’s daily rotation, the same planetary dance that has fascinated watchmakers for centuries and which forms the underlying logic of the perpetual calendar complication.

The Long Cycles of Time

While deeply complicated and elaborately decorated, the dial remains highly legible. Hours are highlighted by Floral Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12, while traditional trapezoidal indicators occupy the intermediary positions. Elegant rose gold-coated leaf hands reach just far enough to make at-a-glance time-telling intuitive.

Indications in Handwritten Style

In its form, the Bohème Perpetual Calendar also pays subtle homage to the beauty of handwriting. A closer look at the three upper-sub dials reveals the indications in a font reminiscent of handwriting, celebrating Montblanc’s writing culture heritage.

A Watercolour Moon in a Watercolour Sky

All of this sets the scene for the moon-phase complication. Located within the 6 o’clock sub dial, the phases of the moon are indicated along with the long-range calendar that will remain accurate until the year 2100 (when the Gregorian calendar will ignore a leap year to compensate for accumulated annual deviations).

The moon-phase disc found on the Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar has been crafted using serigraphy, with the pattern and colours based on an interpretation of watercolours that adds a further romantic touch to this central feature.

A Bezel Full of Choice Diamonds

Whether choosing the rose-gold 750/1000 (18 karats) model or the bi-metal version, the rose gold 750/1000 (18 karats) bezel of the Bohème Perpetual Calendar is fitted with 60 brilliant-cut diamonds. Each diamond meets or exceeds the V. S. rating for clarity as well as the inclusion in at least the Top Wesselton category for whiteness.

It is worth noting that the 60 diamonds surrounding the dial also act as a precise minute-track. While every aesthetic feature of the Bohème Perpetual Calendar is sophisticated and highly decorative, precision timekeeping is always at the heart of the timepiece.

Achieving High Complication With Calibre MB 29.15

Montblanc’s calibre MB 29.15 offers the full suite of perpetual calendar features, including the hour and minutes, the day of the week, the month, a leap year indicator and the watercolour interpretation moon-phase. This watch will not need to be reset until March 2100, and it holds 42-hours’ worth of mechanical power when fully wound. Adjustments, when needed, are activated intuitively using correctors on mid-case.

Each MB 29.15 movement undergoes rigorous Montblanc laboratory test in the manufacture of Le Locle in order to ensure the ultimate in precision timekeeping.

Three Straps for Every Mood

The Bohème Perpetual Calendar comes with three interchangeable straps: a beige calfskin strap with alligator print, a smooth black calfskin strap, and a burgundy-tone calfskin strap, rounding out the versatility of the timepiece.

Franck Muller Double Mystery™ Collection: A Dazzling Enigma in Motion

In the realm of haute horlogerie, few names command reverence quite like Franck Muller. Known as the “Master of Complications,” the maison is celebrated for pushing the boundaries of watchmaking design and mechanical ingenuity. Among its most mesmerizing creations stands the Double Mystery™ Collection—a timeless expression of elegance, mystery, and technical mastery.

At first glance, the watch is a vision of opulence: an 18k white gold case hand-set with over 440 brilliant-cut diamonds, shimmering from bezel to buckle. But it’s the dial that truly captivates. Traditional watch hands are nowhere to be seen—instead, time is indicated through two graceful rotating discs. The inner disc, small and centered, displays the hour, while the outer disc glides around the perimeter to mark the minutes. This seamless, almost hypnotic movement appears to float above the jeweled dial, earning the timepiece its enigmatic name.

A Movement Beyond Time

Powering the Double Mystery is the MVD 2800-MY, a bidirectional automatic movement crafted in-house. Comprising 217 meticulously finished components, it boasts a 42-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Every surface of the movement is a canvas for artisanal finishing: Geneva stripes on the bridges and rotor, circular satin brushing on the wheels, diamond polishing on the bevels, and perlage on the mainplate—each finish applied with precision and care.

This level of craftsmanship reflects Franck Muller’s dedication to preserving the traditions of fine watchmaking, even when they remain hidden beneath a sapphire crystal caseback.

Beauty in the Details

The case measures 39mm in diameter and is complemented by a hand-stitched alligator leather strap, exuding understated sophistication. The dial itself is a spectacle of luxury, set with 232 brilliant-cut diamonds (2.28 carats) and 14 colored gemstone indexes—a symphony of sapphires, rubies, and tsavorites adding both color and sparkle. Even the white gold buckle is adorned with 8 brilliant-cut diamonds, ensuring the piece dazzles from every angle.

More Than a Watch

The Double Mystery is not merely a time-telling instrument; it is a celebration of design, craftsmanship, and wonder. It speaks to collectors and connoisseurs who seek not just precision, but poetry in motion—those who appreciate that true luxury lies in the details, the artistry, and the emotion a timepiece evokes.

For those drawn to the rare and remarkable, the Franck Muller Double Mystery Collection is a watch that doesn’t just mark time—it mystifies it.
