BIG BANG UNICO NOVAK DJOKOVIC

ROBUST, LIGHT, SUSTAINABLE: A BIG BANG UNICO INSPIRED BY OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST AND 24 GRAND SLAM TITLE HOLDER NOVAK DJOKOVIC’S WINNING MINDSET.

Inspired by Djokovic’s incredible record-breaking achievements, Hublot designed a watch that captures Hublot Ambassador Novak Djokovic’s agility on the court and highlights Hublot’s approach to sustainable innovation. Together, they present an extraordinary watch inspired by the strength and determination that led Djokovic to become the greatest tennis player of all time. Driven by Hublot’s commitment to innovation and unique mastery of materials, the Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic is made of Djokovic’s HEAD racquets and Lacoste polos. Novak Djokovic’s racquets and shirts are metamorphosed into an exceptional watch that takes on a second life as a unique talisman.

Journalists and special guests gathered in Paris for an immersive experience into Olympic gold medalist and 24 Grand slam titles holder Djokovic’s winning mindset, brought to life through a unique performance, a discussion between Hublot CEO, Julien Tornare and Novak Djokovic, and the official reveal of the Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic. The tone was set by the charisma of Djokovic, an unmatched player, who earlier this year in the City of Light aced another remarkable career title winning Olympic gold; with this brilliant triumph Djokovic made history as only the 5th player to complete the Golden Slam, winning all four major titles and an Olympic gold medal in singles.

A Legendary Mindset

Novak Djokovic became a part of the Hublot family in 2021. Since then, the Swiss luxury watchmaker has been there to support the tennis player’s greatest achievements and watch Djokovic reaffirm himself as the tennis GOAT.

Djokovic’s story is now legendary. Djokovic turned professional in 2003 and has rewritten tennis history, breaking records, defying the odds, achieving the impossible and overcoming adversity. Since winning his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in 2008, Djokovic has dominated the most competitive period in tennis history, elevating the game at every turn. Now a 24-time Grand Slam singles champion, Djokovic’s passionate will and determination have shone through in his journey and solidified his ongoing legacy.

By striving to be the best and giving his all-in pursuit of his dreams, Djokovic embodies the same powerful values that define Hublot’s unique approach to fine watchmaking. The bigger the challenge, the more glory in overcoming it.

“To reach where I am today, it has required extensive work both physically and most importantly, mentally. The psychology of the game is very important, and when I play, each moment needs to be precise and intentional. This is especially true with what I wear during preparation and competition, as it becomes part of my body, my mind. Every detail is critical to my ability to stay focused and determined. This new watch is an extension of this mindset and represents key moments from my 2023 season, a landmark year in my career. It is a symbol of every game, every moment. It has been an incredible experience to collaborate with Hublot to create this special watch.”
NOVAK DJOKOVIC – HUBLOT AMBASSADOR AND TENNIS GOAT

A Fusion of Excellence and Innovation

Hublot was given a challenge: to create an incredibly light watch with a sustainable component. Known for pushing the boundaries in terms of research and development, Hublot was able to not only create a new material but a highly personal one at that. Hublot developed a composite made up of 25 HEAD racquets as well as 17 dark blue and 15 light blue Lacoste polos used by Djokovic during his 2023 season, the year in which the world witnessed Djokovic make history and break records with 24 Grand Slams singles titles.

These materials have been developed and used to make the watch as light as possible without losing any strength or resilience. In many ways, the R&D process for this watch mirrors Djokovic’s determination to aim for excellence.

The composite that makes up the case and bezel of the watch is made of Epoxy resin reinforced with quartz powder and glass veil that has been fused with the recycled racquets and shirts. The resulting material is speckled with fragments of light & dark blue textiles and black carbon to create a singular camo aesthetic. An innovative approach, representative of Hublot’s ambition for endless reinvention.

To ensure a feather-light feeling on the wrist, Hublot had to find a way to reduce the weight of the watch. Instead of using traditional sapphire crystal, the Swiss luxury watchmaker has chosen tempered Gorilla glass, a material used in high-end electronics and two times lighter than sapphire. An achievement made possible by the relentless drive of Hublot’s innovation and materials teams to create singular watches while pursuing the brand’s engagement to move towards meaningful products, made with awareness.

At the heart of the watch lies the Unico manufacture chronograph movement. Synonymous with the bold and always different character of the brand, the movement was a natural choice for this special piece. Nonetheless, the standard Unico movement in brass had to be reinvented to reduce the weight of the watch. To do so, Hublot chose aluminum, prized for its lightness, and anodized in light blue or grey to echo the camo color scheme of the case. In doing so, Hublot’s engineers were able to reduce the weight of the movement by 27%, shedding almost a third of its weight. Aluminum has also been used for some case components such as side pieces (3H-9H), sub-bezel, bezel lugs, pushers, crown and case-back.

The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic comes with four straps for four different styles. The first bracelet is a “Lacoste” tennis wristband that attaches to the watch head with the One Click System, making the watch the perfect tennis companion. The second style is a blue elastic strap, this combination weighs a total of 49.5 grams, lighter than a tennis ball! The third style features a light blue Velcro strap with a polished blue aluminum sports buckle. The last style is a white rubber strap with titanium deployant buckle.

Highly Collectible

Fans of the tennis player and collectors alike will appreciate the details that have been added to the watch, such as a yellow second pusher or the slightly domed and curved bezel screws reminiscent of a tennis ball. The Novak Djokovic logo is visible on the second hand and on the oscillating weight.

The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic, limited to 100 pieces, is housed in Hublot’s sustainably sourced, high quality wooden watch box. Created entirely from oak, including its hinges, it is carved from mostly massive, traceable wood, whose sourcing and manufacture both promote short supply chains. The watch box features a unique design created exclusively for this limited-edition.

Owners of the watch will also receive a Lacoste sport wristband and a Lacoste polo signed by Hublot Ambassador and all-time record-holder of 24 Grand Slam single titles, Novak Djokovic.

HUBLOT BIG BANG UNICO ALL BLACK SCHLOSS SCHAUENSTEIN

Hublot and Andreas Caminada’s castle of Schauenstein celebrate 20 years with the special edition Big Bang Unico All Black Schloss Schauenstein

Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot and acclaimed chef Andreas Caminada proudly unveil a remarkable timepiece in celebration of the Schauenstein castle’s restaurant’s two decades of innovation and excellence. This occasion sees the introduction of the limited-edition Big Bang Unico All Black Schloss Schauenstein, a creation which epitomizes the fusion of haute horlogerie and culinary mastery.

The Art of Gastronomy

Blending meticulous expertise and a passion for fine artistry with time, gourmet cuisine and Haute Horlogerie share essential elements. Precise timing is vital for chefs, from ordering to plating up on the pass and through to service. This shared mentality has intertwined Hublot with the world of gastronomy. Hublot admires haute cuisine and those who convey their savoir-faire onto their dishes, skillfully fusing ingredients to create uniqueness while staying authentic. This connection has fostered remarkable partnerships and, notably, the iconic Big Bang Unico Gourmet watch.

This expansive universe continues to evolve, illuminating new opportunities to explore the bond between Hublot and a chef, starting in 2017 with the one and only Andreas Caminada.

A Tale of Fusion

The story of the Big Bang Unico All Black Schloss Schauenstein goes all the way back to 2004 when Hublot redefined luxury watchmaking with the concept of “The Art of Fusion,” blending traditional craftsmanship with avant-garde materials. Around the same time, Andreas Caminada took his culinary odyssey to new heights, taking over the historic Schauenstein castle, earning him prestigious Michelin stars for his innovative cuisine.

Over the past two decades, both Hublot and Andreas Caminada have personified the art of individuality in their respective fields. Hublot’s groundbreaking creations, including the iconic Big Bang and Classic Fusion lines, mirrored Caminada’s unrelenting pursuit of perfection and culinary artistry at the castle. This shared dedication naturally led to an inevitable partnership in 2017, when the 3 Michelin Stars chef joined the Hublot Family as a brand ambassador. Since then, Caminada has garnered numerous acclaims, including the Sustainable Restaurant Award, and continues to amaze with each passing year. Collaborating in events such as the Art of Fusion Night in 2019 alongside Hublot, this culinary maestro consistently reinvents the fine dining experience, remaining true to Art of Fusion ethos. This relationship culminates in a collaborative celebratory watch, the perfect tribute to such a talent.

“To celebrate this incredible milestone in my career and the birthday of the Schauenstein castle with a partner like Hublot is one of my biggest prides. The Big Bang Unico All Black Schloss Schauenstein is the perfect representation of what this moment means and transpires the essence of our culinary journey—a harmonious blend of tradition, creativity, and uncompromising quality” – ANDREAS CAMINADA, HUBLOT AMBASSADOR AND 3 MICHELIN-STARRED CHEF

“Our collaboration with Andreas Caminada represents the ultimate fusion of innovation and excellence, celebrating 20 years of pushing boundaries in both watchmaking and gastronomy. And we will not stop here.” -RICARDO GUADALUPE, HUBLOT CEO

The Schauenstein Castle is located in the village of Fürstenau, known as the smallest city in the world, in Switzerland’s Grisons canton. This captivating setting exudes a timeless allure and embodies the cherished ‘Swissness Attitude’ valued by Hublot. Within the acclaimed triple Michelin-starred restaurant, Chef Caminada immerses guests in an exploration of culinary awakening, echoing Hublot’s philosophy of perpetual exploration in crafting extraordinary pieces.

In honor of the 20-year jubilee of the Schauenstein castle and of Caminada’s culinary prowess, Hublot unveils its new Big Bang Unico All Black Schloss Schauenstein, underscoring its commitment to distinction and support for the best in their fields.

As the watch’s name suggests, the concept revolves around the color black, highly prominent throughout the various features of the timepiece, a design philosophy inspired by Andreas Caminada’s looks and reflecting Hublot’s desire to explore ‘invisible visibility’ in high fashion style. The watch features a 42mm microblasted black ceramic case, offering a sleek, modern aesthetic, with black plated H-shaped polished and microblasted titanium screws and a satin-finished black plated titanium crown with black rubber. The bezel, made of microblasted and polished black ceramic, complemented by the satined and microblasted black plated pushers, add depth and texture to the design. Additionally, the microblasted black ceramic case back is engraved with a depiction of Schauenstein’s castle in shimmering silver tones.

Elevating the watch, the matte black dial serves as a canvas for the applied silver-toned logo of Andreas Caminada on the small seconds counter, reflecting the spirit of culinary fineness. The black plated satin-finished hands provide a striking contrast against the dial.

At the heart of the Big Bang Unico All Black Schloss Schauenstein beats the in-house Hublot HUB1280 self-winding chronograph movement. Introduced in 2010 as the first movement designed by the manufacture, the Unico calibre saw refinement in 2018 with the launch of the 1280 reference, a slimmer iteration tailored to a broader range of wrists, used in this new release in collaboration with chef Caminada.

The watch proudly exhibits its inner workings with a skeletonized dial, offering a glimpse of the column wheel automatic winding mechanism that orchestrates its chronograph functions, and a date at 3 o’clock. Boasting a 72-hour power reserve and enhanced accuracy, it incorporates five patents for facilitated assembly, modernized architecture, and increased performance. The Unico 2 calibre offers a sleek 42-mm case and notable technical developments, including gentler winding, faultless chronograph display, and exceptional shock resistance, further emphasizing the best for the best with this limited edition.

The Big Bang Unico All Black Schloss Schauenstein comes in a presentation case complete with a black ceramic and black titanium deployant buckle clasp on the black lined rubber strap. Each watch is accompanied by a signed booklet by Andreas Caminada, a custom-engraved knife, and a knife block, reflecting Caminada’s passion for precision and authenticity in watchmaking and gastronomy.

Limited to just 20 pieces, each watch is a symbol of exclusivity and craftsmanship. Additionally, a unique piece, customized with the Fundaziun Uccelin logo, will be auctioned for charity during the AC Masters event, taking place on June 11th, offering collectors a unique opportunity to own an exceptional timepiece.

HUBLOT

Hublot is a Swiss watch manufacturer founded in 1980 and based in Nyon. For its first ever timepiece, this fundamentally disruptive company combined gold with a rubber strap in a case with a design inspired by a ship’s porthole (hublot in French). Thus, the Art of Fusion was born, blending tradition, innovation, craftsmanship, worlds and talents. It became the brand’s aesthetic and technical signature.

This identity was strengthened in 2005 with the Big Bang, which attested to an unrivalled know-how in terms of complications, manufacture movements and state-of-the-art materials. Carbon, titanium, ceramic and sapphire have been developed on this model to technical extremes.

This ground-breaking, high-quality approach to watchmaking is summed up in its philosophy ‘Be First, Unique and Different.’ It gradually led to other collections with innovative designs: Classic Fusion, Shaped Collection (Spirit of Big Bang, Square Bang) and Manufacture Pieces. These draw on high levels of craftsmanship, both in terms of the materials so dear to Hublot (such as Magic Gold, brightly-coloured ceramics and sapphires) and its manufacture movements (Unico chronograph, Meca-10 and high complications such as the Tourbillon, the Cathedral Minute Repeater and the
specific Manufacture Pieces movements).

Hublot’s world extends to powerful partnerships including football. ‘Hublot Loves Football’ has become the slogan at the world’s biggest sporting events (such as the FIFA World CupTM, Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA EUROTM) and through its ambassadors. This love of football continues in art, design, music, sport, fine dining and sailing. Lastly, Hublot’s implication in joint environmental projects with SORAI and Polar Pod reflects its concern for the issues of the day.

Over 135 Boutiques around the world share Hublot’s fervour and values, alongside the Hublot.com e-commerce site.

BIG BANG UNICO ORANGE CERAMIC: A CLOCKWORK ORANGE

A new ceramic colour is making its appearance at the heart of the Big Bang Unico: a vibrant orange, the result of a unique alchemy and a flawless resistance to shocks and scratches.

If there is something Hublot excels at, it is disruption and unbridled creativity. But, sometimes, it is also known for those little touches that quietly and profoundly change the landscape of watchmaking. Such is the case today, after vivid red and yellow, the Manufacture introduces the first vivid orange ceramic.

Historically, ceramics were first available in unobtrusive colours: black and white. Hublot has gradually changed the game by exploring other shades. The Big Bang has introduced different variations of blue, grey and green. Then, in 2019, it presented a world first when the first brightly coloured ceramic was released: a vibrant red. The second of these achievements came in 2021, with a stunning yellow piece. But the Big Bang collector is not someone who is content with the status quo. Far from it! Hublot has therefore continued to innovate and develop new colours, the very latest of which is this orange.

Developing an original ceramic colour is as simple to say… as it is complex to achieve. The workload should not be underestimated: it requires in-depth research & development. Which additives are needed? In what proportions? What type of firing, at what temperature, and for how long? How can it be machined? Should it have a satin finish? Or polished? How resistant is it to impacts? What about scratches? What pressure? What chemical recipe?

This is just a small part of the specifications that govern the development of a new ceramic. And every single aspect is exacting, as the standards guaranteed by Hublot for its ceramic are among the most stringent on the market. 100% internal expertise, patent-protected.

“Ceramic is part of Hublot history, but it’s a history that is still being written. We’ve never stopped innovating. It’s in our DNA. From our first ceramic bezel in 2005 to the 100% ceramic cases – which we are currently the only company to master in such a wide array of vivid colours. And that’s just the beginning. We’ve got a lot more to come!”  – RICARDO GUADALUPE HUBLOT CEO

The new Big Bang Unico Orange Ceramic follows in the footsteps of its predecessors. It offers a unique, perfectly uniform colour, whatever exterior component it is used to adorn. It is finished to a very high watchmaking standard, with a perfect mirror polish all over. A blend of high technology and savoir faire were necessary to achieve this level of excellence on all the components, due to their diverse shapes, thicknesses, and angles.

Hublot has recreated the exact colour of the ceramic for the indices, counters on the dial and hands, as well as for the integrated rubber strap. This strap features the patented “One-Click” system for quick, tool-free changes.

This series is limited to 250 pieces. At its heart beats the Unico Chronograph Manufacture calibre. This is the very latest generation of the automatic flyback chronograph movement developed by Hublot. Guaranteeing a three-day power reserve (72 hours), it retains the same aesthetic signature: column wheel at 6 o’clock, bicompax layout (small seconds at 9 o’clock, 60-minute counter at 3 o’clock with integrated date), silicon escapement, and the always demonstrative and powerful skeleton architecture. The Unico sits inside the iconic Big Bang case. This version is 42 mm in diameter and features the famous 6 titanium ‘H’ shaped bezel screws and lugs on either side of the case that echo the design of a ship’s porthole.
